Hi Fellas, I have just recently picked up a BA as a daily run around and its currently running a straight gas set up. I have also managed to pick up a complete xr6 turbo driveline package (engine, diff and transmission) I just wanted to know if anyone has had a BA XR6 turbo running on straight gas( pics and feedback would be great)? and what sort of power can be achieved? Would 300rwk be out of the question? (that's obviously with supporting mods such as exhaust, boost controller, intake and custom dyno tune etc) thoughts???

yes u will make 300kw easily with supporting mods

What supporting mods do you beleive I will require in order to achieve this result. (The only reason I am asking is because I dont want to spend too much cash on it as I have another 2 project cars) and the BA is just a daily.

How much cash you spend will be depend on whether your BA is a 4spd Auto, 5spd Manual, or a rare one that came with the 6spd Manual. You can basically just purchase a 2nd hand capa flash tuner for around $350 and get your car custom tuned. Running 9-10psi from the factory's 4psi will take you from around 200-210rwkw to around 250-260rwkw. The 4spd auto will hold up at this power level as the shift pressures are firmed up with the tune, the 5spd's clutch will go, as will most likely the 6pds. Nothing else is needed for this power level, so it's the cheapest bang for your buck upgrade. To get in the 300-320rwk range you'll need to be running 15psi, anymore and the BA bottom end will end up with a nice big hole in it. You'll need to still buy a flash box (350 second hand) valve springs (400), injectors (400), a decent intercooler, something like a rapid v2 kit that comes with all piping and CAI straight off the turbo (1200), and an upgraded fuel pump (500). The 4spd auto won't last with this power level, so a rebuild to hold the power will be around 3000. If you have a 5spd throw it out, they're hopeless. Either convert it to an auto or throw the 6spd in, which will hold the power easy with a better clutch. In regards to the standard XR6T exhaust, all you will need to do is either punch the cat out (cheap option) or upgrade it (400 for a good high flowing cat) . The cat's the most restrictive part of the exhaust and nothing else needs to be touched for this power level. For any more advice consult fordxr6turbo.com Hope this helps Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Your a legend mate. The car is running a auto transmission (so I will definately have it upgraded with stronger internals. I probably wont run anymore than 1 bar of boost. I wont need to worry about the injectors and fuel pump as I am running straight gas. At the moment I am thinking about doing the following mods in order to achieve 300rwk upgraded FMIC kit capa flash tune (with custom tune) full 3inch turbo back exhaust with a custom 4 inch dump run around 14psi upgrade the internals on the auto And upgrade the valve springs Snort performance (intake manifold) Anything else you fellas can think of? Its just going to be a daily drive so I am after good realiable everyday power. Also does anyone know a good place in melb where I can get the whole final tune done, as I havent come across any good tuners for gas cars??? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have 2 BA/ BF XR6T's that are close to and over the 300kw mark On gas. And APS Frankston have one running 300 RWKW +++. Also on gas. We can do this with JTG liquid injection systems. I have done more BA turbos than any other fitter that I know of with liquid injection. liquid injection will give you MORE power than premium unleaded due to the chemical intercooling effect of injection liquid lpg onto the engine valves. it freezes the incomming air charge and acts as a massive intercooler. STOCK BA Turbos (NO MODS AT ALL) will make around 10 to 20 RWKW MORE than premium unleaded. With a tune and CAI and Exhaust and custom tune you will get real close to the 300 mark without much issue ( I also custom tune) If you tip over the 300 mark by going with heaps of boost valve springs and plenum or intercooler you need to run bigger petrol injectors and the you need to run a second fuel pump in the LPG tank to provide enough fuel flow for the liquid injectors. then we run a big calibrater in the injectors so they flow the same amount as the petrol injectors. Like i said there are some big HP BA XR6T's getting around running our JTG liquid injection now. You cannot run straight gas with this system due to the fact that it need to run a purge cycle for 60 secs before it switches to gas. You cannot do this purge cycle without the engine running legally in Australia. You cant sit there with the ignition on for 60 secs while it does the purge cycle without the engine running. the australian rules will not allow this. In italy you can though and can run straight gas. Now this stuff is the VERY BEST LPG money can but. it is the best LPG system IN THE WORLD. So it does cost about 1000 more than a vapour injection system for a STOCK unit. Heavily modded units cost way more. If you don't want to spend so much have a look at a vapour injection system instead. You will still need to fit all the petrol injection system (all ecu and loom) and then run vapour injection. You will have roughly the same power as petrol (about 5 to 10 RWKW less) and runs pretty well still. I have a couple of Eurogas injected ones out there and they are still running great. I hope this gives you an idea of whats involved. ALOT!!!! If you are not highly committed and have some pretty decent cash then I would advise that you don't even begin. I have fitted a Turb's to a stock BA and it is ALOT of work. there are alot of things that are gonna pop up that you cannot even dream of yet. And i hope you know someone at ford so you can do the BCM handshake and program everything to suit. Good luck with it all.

Just to chuck a spanner in the works. Would it be possible to just run the straight gas set up on a stock standard turbo set up? So thats without pumping up the power to 300rwk? Coz the cars just going to be a daily so I am not really that fussed. Also another questions since I already have straight gas factory ford set up how much would it cost me to go the liquid gas set up? (bearing in mind I am not chasing any big power numbers) 300rwk would be the most possible I would want. cheers

I beleive it comes down the tune, and the way you drive the car. I have a turbo VT with standard internals and everyone told me that would fall apart. It been sweet as pie and its producing around 200rwk.

i got 60lb seimens injectors, 3.5" exhaust, custom plenum, springs and capa livewire tuner. How much is it gonna cost me to get a liquid injection system fitted? i know they use normal injectors but what about pumps? and i can use my flash tuner aye?
