Hey Guys, Ive got a Sony head unit (CDX-GT570) that i want to install at some point but first i want to install an electric antenna that i got from SuperCheap (Aerpro AP10). This is going into an Exec that currently has a manual antenna. Just wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket antenna like this, and if so would you share info Thanks in advance Mark Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You need to get antenna switch, wiring, etc. from a berlina or calais. This will make your job heaps easier.

Didn't think id need all those things as i dont have to control the height of the antenna. the aftermarket kit from supercrap only has 4 wires: Green cable - attaches to auto antenna connection of the car radio (which is on my sony h/u - max 0.1A :S) Red cable - to 12v battery constant (regardless of ignition pos) Black cable - ground, to chassis of vl Antenna connector - to back of h/u

The one from supercrap should be height adjustable... when you turn the radio on it should pop up about 20cm or so, and then you use the antenna swich to put it up further. Unless you've got a different sort?

Alright that's the one that I used as a direct replacement for my electric VL aerial... I'm not entirely sure you can use that without the switches and other stuff.

then can you tell me how you wired it up? if thats the case, looks like im off to the wreckers in search for a calais...

A berlina will do the trick as well, anything higher spec than exec will have an elec antenna... I just joined the two wires coming from the antenna to the two that went to the original, earthed it and screwed it all back together. You might find that all the wiring for an elec antenna is already in your car... in that case all you will need the switch on the dash and the control module that sits under the dash on the passenger side.
