hey guys,
i`m sourcing some parts for my injected 5 litre conversion.
just wanted to get some opinion on what extractors will fit into a vl with a injected 5 litre engine with a trimatic behind it?
i have asked so many places but everyone tells me different stories.
i`m looking at pacemakers or genie. or any other good ones that fit.
i know you can get the pacmakers that fit a vb to vk 5 litre efi motor that they list at pacemaker`s website, but some people tell me that these dont fit a vl and some say the do? other people say a vn pacemaker extractors will on a vl but will hang lower than usual?
does any one have a vl with a injected 5litre that they know what they are talking about? or they are 100% which extractors will fit with a trimatic (if that matters)? and with which steering rack?
any info will be appreciated

VN-VP Pacemakers will work. From memory that's what I put in mine

You've gotta use VN-VP pacemakers as EVLHSV said, but you will need to change the power steering rack over to a VN - VP one

PH5700 will fit with the correct rack.
Dont worry what everyone else tells you, do not use VN or VP style.
Use PH5700.

Yes i do believe so, although there are a number of variations in the racks fitted to different models, with regards to power or non power rack. I think one type of VL rack was ok to use.
As for the pipes, i went through the same crap of everyone saying this will fit, that wont fit. Just wanted to let the original poster know that the 5700's are the way to go. With the correct rack you shouldnt need to mod anything.

sounds good, i'm just in the process of fitting VN heads and wasn't sure what extractors to use either, well the part number anyway. I'll have to find out if my power steering rack will be ok with those extractors. Its an 88 calais so it could be alright

Kind of on topic here, I'm currently searching but no answer yet. A VN V8 power steering rack will fit a VL? My calais has a manual rack in it but I'm going back to power steer (not a fan of the manual steer), but I remember the transfer pipes for the fluid were getting in the way with the VL power rack and the genie headers I have fitted. The VN rack has those 2 pipes moved so shouldn't be a problem, but I've now been told those pipes in the VL will foul on the chasis, true or false? Also, apparently there are 2 different VN racks for the 6 and 8?
I'm looking at going EFI when the current motor runs out of puff, so it would be a good start to sort the rack now.

thaks for the info, really apprciate it,
thanks to everyone else for the info.
i will try the pacemaker`s 5700, just as well i didnt buy the vn one`s.
also would some one be able to tell me which way the pipes face on the vn rack for these headers to fit? for example my rack (vl v8), if u look at it from the top the small pipes face toward 1 o`clock and the main pipes face 7 o`clock.
