I've had no issues with my Cometic MLS gasket.
ACL are a rebranded Cometic. Fairly cheap at a little over $200.
As for who not to get your head done by up North, PM me if you wish. They are a useless bunch of idiots that had NFI when it comes to seat pressure in a turbo motor.
35pounds of seat pressure is apparently fine for a 20-25psi motor. lol

yeah about $250-$300 for a good job for the same thing, thats the norm for what Mark at Northern Head and Engine (elizabeth)charges. He's bloody good at what he does and has done all my cars. He also has a brilliant mate james who's awesome at porting to. Pm me if you want his number, hes done quite a few VL's

does this sound a bit on the cheap?
i would have thought that would have cost a fair bit more more around $700 or so?
