I have a work car, ford ute thing. Its so slow it hurts, and chews gas like no tomorrow. Is there anyway to improve the performance? Overtaking at 100kp/h is terrible. Anyone no how to give it some more timing or lean it out a bit.

is it a factory system? if it is and all tuned properly then chances are it will be making the most power it can from LPG. the factory ford gas systems have a different ECU with a different spark map for the LPG and a decent throttle/LPG setup. does it run much better on petrol?

lol, I used to have one for work at the old place I was working, how frustrating!!!? Just the worlds biggest heap of sh1t. Slow, backfireing, wet grass was still a struggle to turn the tyres, and Im not kidding about that. I used to call him Gassy.

Its factory lpg, no petrol at all. Surely it can make more power than it is now. I don't even bother trying to over take at 100kp/h as to get to 110 would take 15secs. I wonder if the ECU that is running it is compatilble wit the new HP tuners stuff. I will email them and see if I can get some answer. I think the new stuff flashed in a complete new operating system to the ecu and you have full control over spark and duty cycles. The backfire is awesome low speeds, foot flat to floor to get through round about, it hesitates like its missing and then boooooom!!!! bonnet lifts and inch or two. Maybe it needs the plugs gapped down a bit, and it leaned off somewhat. Almost sounds like it running silly rich. Should take it down to the dyno and find out.

what model is it? fg? ba/bf? au? so its factory gas...assuming it still runs a mixer (au to series 1 ba )...mixer could be blocked or the core inside could have ruptured...not heating the gas properly...hence the poor performance

Not heating the gas hense poor performance?????? WTF??? Hot gas gives better performance??/ The E-gas is the worst idea. Imagine having the choice of having 195Kw and then getting a gassa and only being given 156!!!! The E-gas mixer has a pissy 39mm opening, so you can just see what that would do to performance. you can tune them but the gains a very minimal. Its like trying to tune a perfomance engine with a 4 barrel but shutting off the secondaries and trying to make power just off the primaries!!1 Its just not gonna happen. With the FG's we put on JTG liquid injection we gainaround 10 Rwkw!!!! So petrol engine has 195Kw 9engine) and we can get a good 20Kw bosst over that with a good gas system. All at $1 less a litre!!! my advice is tell them to sell it.

get a proper retune. they're just your standard injected gas from factory. we had taxis comming in every 2 months for a retune. if that doesnt help, sell it gas is sh*t edit: lol just read the post above me. well said

lol i thought the Egas systems were supposed to be ok? or was it only decent on the EF/EL models? FG is a big heavy car, so i could see how having a **** running gas system would make it poo to drive lol. the LPG on my EB goes alright though, not much power loss compared to petrol, but its got an impco mixer on it. i was looking at changing to the factory **** cause i thought it was betterer, but guess wont bother with that now lol

if its taking 15 sec to get from 100 to 110, you dont need mods, you need to fix it, something is wrong

ford factory iridium plugs... is the problem. I have had so many gas complaints from customers at work. A set of standard 6 or AU Tickford 6cyl plugs should get it going. Just piss those iridiums. If that doesn't work man, "sorry boss, that car just pulled outta no where"

It is still hard to start, and will backfire and carry on. Its a government owned work car. So basically I hope it dies from aids sooner rather than later. 15 secs probably is an exageration but some days it feels like it. If that doesn't work man, "sorry boss, that car just pulled outta no where" It goes in for a service this week or next. I will ask them to swap out the plugs, any idea on gap? I have 24,000k's left to go and I will get a turbo diesel.

Yeah its a work car for work use only but I have is 100% of the time if that makes sense. My HP Tuners now has support for the ford ECU, so I'm going to have a chat today with VCM and see if I can get a test licence to have a play and see if I can improve things a little.
