You want to put a 4.2 litre turbo diesel in a VL? I think you mean TB42, that's the 4.2 petrol. They are a big motor I don't think they would even fit in a VL. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

think ull find that it wont fit as the block is wider...longer and deeper...i was looking at one in my breif employment in a panelshop and yea...u would have a hell of a time trying to get it...and the gearbox to work... having said that if the turbo diesel driveline was able to be inserted into the vls bay...then u would be up for a pretty sweet project as the internals are alot stronger and can be pushed further...simply because its a diesel

Are you talking about using a diesel block and converting it to run on petrol? You can't be serious...

Yeah I have heard of the RD28's being converted to petrol engines and hold some serious boost. Apparently there is a few big name race cars that have them in it. 3.0L crank is fitted with new pistons etc.. so essentially its just the block being used.

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yeh that makes a bit more sense, just about everything besides the block would be useless.

any rational reason why u would want to do this? Or was this just out of curiosity

Diesel engines are stronger, the webbing is larger and has thicker walls. So for big horespower it is an option, I remember back in the day KD-747 was always splitting blocks due to the boost levels.

i have heard they were putting 3ltr internals in them and decking the blocks to suit. also that rajab were going to make a block designed on this for big hp. dont know how true it is but gives you something to think about.

rajab alloy block never happen would cost over 100k to do something like that Quote: Originally Posted by GMH-JC Diesel engines are stronger, the webbing is larger and has thicker walls. tb42s are a totaly different block. there huge, there a pushrod truck engine design that dont like to rev past 4500rpm, and the have 4 head bolts per cylinder. u would have to remake fire wall and tunnel, and there different bolt pattern to rbs. SO NO THEY WONT FIT and if u could do it it would be fu?king pointless i think u must b thinking about the rd28 deisel blocks, with alot of work the do fit and are very strong

Sounds like a lot of ****ing around for little pay off Interesting concept though probably just not for VL's, my opinion anyway
