1 of the wires at the shifter must go to the reverse lights because the reverse lights are controlled by the shifter and not by the trimatic. i have 2 switches on the b&m shifter 1 controls the neutral park start and the other controls reverse lights green/yellow,blue,red,brown wires so i need to know what wires on the stanadrd shifter (pink wire ,violet wire ,green wire ,violet/white stripe wire) go to the neutral park switch and the reverse switch on the bm shifter.

2 wires go to the neutral start relay(that is what it is called in the wiring diagram)Both are violet,I assume your will be the violet and the violet/white stripe one.Green goes to the reverse switch. If possible try and get hold of the VL service manual(volume 5) this has all the wiring diagrams you need. Let us know hw you get on. Cheers Marty

violet wires are start circuit, it doesnt matter which one comes from ignition switch or to the starter, just wire the 2 violet wires to the inhibitor switch of the B&M, the pink wire is ignition for ther reverse lights, which will be the green

thanks guys for the help and picture i do appreciate it. tidyvh was spot on the original shifter wires go to the bm shifter as follows 2 purple wires to neutral/park inhibiter switch pink ignition wire goes to reverse switch for power(red wire on bm shifter) green wire goes to other side of reverse switch on bm shifter for reverse lights. ended up using voltmeter before taking old shifter out. still got problem it starts in gear if you knock shifter back all way then go up in gears till dont go no more it starts in gear(thought thats neutral) but the rest works good appart from it not lockng car in park its like park is neutral it rolls in park.
