Yeh, not personaly but a good mate..
Turned out fine.. and looked the same for (what i can remember) a year or so then he sold the car.. so never know.
we did a mates a while back with some asteroid silver mixed up in a pressure pack, came up pretty good but nowhere near as good as off the gun very noticeable difference.
if ur going to the trouble of rubbing them back and pulling them off the car anyway just drop them off at a painter, most decent painters will charge **** all to slap a bit of silver on them if theyre already prepped and off the car.
i was gonna attempt it and personally i reakon i would of done a better job them my mate who painted them with a compresser. just get the paint mixed up and put in a can from paint mobile i think its $35 and prep the bars properly and u should be sweet
i did myn.
just washed the old bar with old faded paint (mxgrey) still on, no sanding, sprayed it with 2-3 coats, dried in sunlight, no clear..
i put it back on the car with in 2 hours and it hasnt flaked, faded or chipped since..
its not the most metallicy job but its suits the rest of the bars
is there a standed spray paint that will look similiar to asteroid silver? the reason of me wanting to spray them was to try and save some cash. there telln me $200 to spray them up silver lol *** ripoff to spray some bars if u ask me lol
Whats the problem cheapo, to use a quality paint with paint harders and a few layers of clear its well worth the $200.
The ****test equipment you could source would still be over $200.
Not to mention paint + hardeners = $300 atleast?
I paid $250 for all of mine to get painted and put back on the car.
I am currently painting my VLCT in house paint.. with a roller and brush.
It looks ok, and should be protected from the elements for a good 25 years, it says on the tin.. wattle solarguard.
myn cost 26 bucks, got me out of trouble and still hasnt flaked..
take to paint code into a paint shop and its done.
im not obsessed over looks though, its only a vl,
26 buck must have used **** paint and only 1 coat
when we did a mates we used 7 cans (front bar, rear bar, moulds) had it mixed up at the auto paint shop in coburg asteroid silver, did 3-4 coats but it still ended up costing him near $200 just for the paint, if the bars are prepped ready for paint your better of buying a litre or 2 of paint for next to nothing and getting someone to slap some paint on for a few hundred dollars turns out 10 times better in the long run and no head****s!

bahahahahaha!!!! awesome.
was gonna rattle can mine, but might look into getting someone else to 2pak them now.
yer sounds like the way to go is get them done properly.
does any1 have pics of a vl with bars that have been sprayed by them?
thanks for the help guys
my front bar and door moulds were painted by previous owner, id say by a spray can, when you see the car in person you can tell, no idea on what paint etc etc, but looks decent
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
