Its been nearly a year and a half since I bolted everything onto my car. After countless numbers of dyno runs, 10 runs at WSID, four of them being 10 second passes. Giving the engine hell frying dozens of stockies and driving around for over a year on a detonation tune from a certain workshop... My standard nissan head gasket decided enough was enough.
Also found that the exhaust manifold had burnt a hole through the oil return line!
Thought the pics were pretty cool to show what a blow out over cylinders looks like.
Time for a cometic gasket and some arp head studs. Hopefully will be back at WSID in a couple of weeks. Stock bottom ends ftw

anything done to the head or Std? sounds like good combo you have going there. nissan gasket has done you well also.
where did you get your detonation tune. lol Just want to make sure I dont end up with one when I get my new motor tuned.

Yeah heads just got a Camtech cam in it and heavy duty valve springs. Its a bog stock 400,000 klms turbo bottom end, pistons are stock. Running a GT3540. I dont want to say who does the detonation tunes. Maatouks are the only workshop id be getting a tune at anyway. Definately worth the drive from Wollongong. Atleast you know you wont be driving around on 25 degrees+ timing

15-07-09, 19:16 GMT+10#13 might want to retune it after replacing the gasket.
it blew for a reason, stronger gasket, just means it will not blow next time and might be a piston instead.
either that or run better fuel, maybe it was just a bad batch that caused it?
brents car makes 650hp+ and circuit races it with standard gasket without o-rings, nothing wrong with them at all.

15-07-09, 20:29 GMT+10#14 Is it a turbo bottom end??? look like N/a pistons to me. Are the piston crown centers raised or dished? they look raised to me
Either way thats quite a feat mate good luck with it hope it keeps going strong

Will be retuning on C16 and hoping for a pb at WSID.
Im thinking a bad batch of fuel as well.
