Working out the budget to get the car on the road before cruise for charity and its tight.
Im planning to have:.
High comp or high comp with cosmetic gasket (undecided)
GT35/40 0.82 rear housing on modified vlt exhaust manifold
FMIC 3" exhaust, 48mm Gate
440cc GTR injectors 044 pump
z32 afm and nistune ecu
Thing is i only want to have to tune the car once, not at 10psi then 20psi once ive got a mx7 or r33 in it.
Will the mf5 take that kinda punishment for the length of time required to tune the car? i plan to make as much power as i can safely then wind the boost right down.
its not really the power the kills the mf5's its the shock loading,
i know a guy that once blew a mf5 in a NA, ^^^^^
i ran 160rwkw for about a year though one thrashing the guts outta it then 210ish rwkw though it for a couple thrash runs, mates now got it in his car (around 170rwkw) thrashing the crap outta it lol, it must be blessed lol,
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
i had one in my car when i bought it making 250+ kw and it lasted 3 months.. drove it for a month or so without 5th then after one decent thrash lost 3rd 4th and reverse lol

I need to get it tunned before the cruise, they load them up in 4th dont they on the dynos?
ive blown 2 mf5 boxes on my na they only take so much torture but at the end of the day it comes down to how you drive it....i know ppl that have run na autos and manuals on turbo cars for 12months now and i know other that ran it for 1 month and destroyed it....?
comes down to how nice you are to it
I ran an Mf5 in my car with a TA51 making 255rwkw for about 9 months before I did a head gasket raced it with slicks a few times I don't think you will break it. You could break the input or out put maybe if you have a twin plate or button clutch etc but you have more of a chance of wrecking the syncros or breaking the selector forks. If you know your going to get another gearbox just don't go silly until you are ready to change it at least half the time your are driving the car you wouldn't be doing flat stick boost runs. I don't know about anyone else but personally i think you will max those 440s out before you get to 20psi with a 35/40 ... but thats just my opinoin
