gday guys i know there are plenty of these threads but i cant find anything that has helped.
1st of all i replaced my bonnet cable a while ago because it had stretched so i fitted a second hand one but after a week that one had stretched aswell so i have bought a brand new one and it still wont pop the bonnet so im thinkiing i have ran the cable the wrong way so making it to short or something. if anyone has idea's or anything please let me know as im taking it over the pits soon and need it fixed.
i currently have it going out the same grommet as a bunch of wires there is seperate little hole in it im gueesing its for the cable and then up around the right hand guard and along the rad support and clamp in tight.
cheers
PLEASE HELP

check the screw what is in front of radiator what clamps down to cable sometimes they **** up and the screw wont hold strong and the cable jackets slips and the cable inside the jacket dosent even move cause the jacket is sliding.
it happend to mine i changd cable twice but then relised that the screw was tight but not tight enough to hold the cable jacket so taht when i pulled the lever the cable jacket would slide not the cable, so then the spring wouldnt pop

put the metal ring on the cable before the clamp on the rad support. those bonnet cables are designed to have tension on them all the time.
in the 2nd pic .. the spring shud only be showing a little. not going half way thru .. hope this helps cheers

ive pulled the cable tight so the spring is only just showing and clamped it but as soon as i let go of the cable it just returns to the same spot in the pic. any other ideas its driving me nuts that something so simple is giving me such a hard time. surely the cable doesnt just run under the overflow bottle like in the pics.
this is a pic of where it is run (in red) but just runs along the guard and under the washer bottle.

There's a small clamp that is meant to hold the plastic sheath of the cable, I can't see it in any of your pictures? Should be somewhere near the bonnet end of the cable.

02-09-09, 12:30 GMT+10#15 well my mech couldnt get it to work propelry either we think the spring is way to stiff so im gonna get one from the wreckers and try that one but has anyone had problems with the cable kinking straight after the handle because of a little black box thing. straight after the release handle it bends 90 degrees. ive been trying to fix this problem for over 2 months now and have made no progress.

13-12-09, 18:12 GMT+10#17 if you take the grill out i think you can get to the loop that the cable sits in so you can pull it across. not 100% sure though.
