hey dave. i spent a cool 1g at ehm... stylin bentliegh on an alarm. it had a thing which sent messages to your phone (not a pager works at any distance / environment). the sms thing bumped up the parts price by 500. theres a guy on here as said eastside installs who does alarms and hes worth checking out from what i have heard. he will also provide more upmarket brands and install onsite. make sure whatever you get has all black wiring and is installed by a pro. also remember that a pager isn't so great if you plan to leave a van full of tools in the carpark at chaddy. all that cement and you won't get anything at all. thats why i went the sms. viper even though it is supposed to be a great brand, does not have black wiring so steer clear.

well black wiring is considered a massive anti theft item i hate to brake it to people but anyone stealing a car of who has looked at a car wiring loom will know that there is never any thin wire so if you have 2 black wires running down to the fuel pump power wires then you dont have to be boy george to work out how to get round the alarm..

true, but surely black is better than coloured? in the end you also have to take the mindset if they really want it. they will take it. if they are pros just looking for anything thats easy to knock off and make money out of, an alarm will be a deterent because they know theres another one a block away with no alarm. and if they are ice freaks looking for some change and n ipod to hawk at cashies hopefully the alarm will mean that the most damage done is a smashed window and some stolen change.
