hey fellas anyone else seen the skid / drift pig in the latest street commodores?
its a vn v6 manual with a spool and chop chops. according to the article it owes the owner 1500, obviously not including tyres / entry fees.
what can i say my friend and i have talked about doing this so many times but we really don't have the space. also he has 2 cars and a bike and i have 2 registered cars and another 3 at the 'rents. but this article gives me the shivers.
anyone else got some skid rigs to share or any comments on the vn taxi? i will try to find some pictures.

theres a vn commodore in the latest edition of street commodores magazine.
it has a v6 and is manual with a minispool in the middle of the diff and cut stock springs.
my mates and i have wanted to do this for a while but keep making excuses not to.
anybody else got skid pigs or any ideas? anyone else interested in doing something like this?

lol at the suby. its a 4wd yes? they are quite hard to break traction in.
also requires room KORUPT. my mum would **** bricks. and yes i am an adult but i am still renting from my parents. i bet if i told her i wanted to get it out in a legal environment rather than on the road she'd be happy. i might have to sell my hrs to make up for it though.

yeah thats it.
that suby looks pretty straight. a mate had one and growing up in the country we did a bit of rallying wink wink nudge nudge. all you needed to do was tap the accelerator and it would straighten up.
oh theres all sorts of excuses. i am also living on about 400 a week + savings and don't see that changing anytime soon as i am at uni for another 12 months.

08-06-09, 15:59 GMT+10#11 lol well that leaves me with selling a daily or an original vlt 5spd wagon for space... or my 3 hrs. its a hell of a tough call to buy a vn exec.

08-06-09, 16:08 GMT+10#13 lols. i think after seeing this i need to have a very serious think about my HRs.
i have three and they were my first cars and paddock bashers. the plan was to restore them. they live at my parent's place.
the other side is my dad gave me a restored hk brougham for my 16th and we have a walky gathering dust as well as another hk prem in parts.
in the end i don't want to part with the vl or the hk those are the ones i am most attached to and i realise that the walky well that choice isn't up to me. the hrs well they were great to learn on but maybe its time?

08-06-09, 19:42 GMT+10#15 yeah had a think about it and spoke to the olds. we are going to strip and cut up the parts HR and maybe sell my jims mowing trailer (yes there is more) and i will keep an ear to the ground for the next 6-12 months for a good base aswell as build up some cash for the initial purchase.
i have more than enough mates to help and enough experience to stumble through the required mods / maintenance to get wheels turning.
whats a good cheap base?
i am thinking a vp commo v6 or maybe a v8. i wouldn't want the car to owe me more than 1500 by the time it is stripped and running. (not inc. mods etc.) also no irs.
but then again a vr would be better for parts b/c i can use panels from a vr or vs and they are very common and only becoming more common in pickaparts. this is the sorta discussion i was after ideal bases / mods etc.

08-06-09, 20:08 GMT+10#17 if u want a drift pig skid pig pick up a written off/repaired or non complied s13 or rx7 cheap as chips weld the diff give it some timing and some boost and go for your life, dont waste your time with vn-vr v6 with minispools unless u just wanna do donuts theyre as useful as tits on a bull.

08-06-09, 20:26 GMT+10#18 its a drift and skid pig. as i said i want it to be minimal $ upfront and to maintain. therefore a commodore seems smart. also seeing as i haven't done any serious circlework on bitumen before its all learning and something with cheap panels would also be good plus i am a bit of a holden guy. its one thing myself and a few mates who want to do this have in common.

08-06-09, 20:34 GMT+10#19 if u blow the motor in a vr u can just chuck another 1 in 4 $200
ull be paying heaps 2 maintain a rx7 or sumthing like that
but a vr v6 wont do 100 metre power slides lol

08-06-09, 20:42 GMT+10#20 yeah i have a money pit already tbh a commodore with low suspension and a spool should be more than enough to start with.
