I saw the thread recently on the VT brake upgrade and was wondering why my VS brakes are better than my VL V8 brakes?
Can I put a VS brake booster in my VL for instant better brakes?

what calipers are on the VS?

Im pretty sure the good old VLT calipers but the VL V8 has cross drilled rotors and doesnt stop anything like the VS.

VS, VLT and VL V8 are all the same calipers.
It's not the calipers that make the improvement, but the brake booster (VS) and master cylinder (VT) combination.

Thats what im trying to say, if I put a VS booster and VT master cylinder on a VL it should give the stock calipers more bite, can you use VT calipers on VL discs?

Yes, it would probably improve the braking.
No, you can't use VT calipers on VL discs. You're require VT hub adaptors fit VT discs to your stub axles. Available on eBay for around $250 a apair.

You can get 16s over VT brakes. They were issued from factory with 16" steelies.
Think it was about $3.50? It's not bad for the budget stiff, should try it.

Lol, garlic bread caught my attention too. When funds allow, I'm looking at doing the VS booster/VT master upgrade, or the full VT kit if I can afford it. from what I've read it should make a fair difference in braking, I'll be looking at the VT front brake kit at some stage also.

15" actually...
BTW if changing bearings in the hub adaptors, do you just use a standard VL bearing kit?

28-07-09, 09:27 GMT+10#18 FYI - The VS booster is plastic and a single diaphragm unlike the VT booster which is a metal body and a twin diaphragm.
- When fitting a VT master cylinder to a VS booster it is best to fit a spacer between the booster and master for clearance than to cut the actual pushrod.

I Just got fitted vz 330mm disc, and back disc got done to slotted rotars, the works.. is it just a matter of buying a VS Booster and bolting it on?

29-07-09, 20:12 GMT+10#20 I put the booster kit from Matt at Race Brakes Sydney on my VL, and it was the biggest improvement I have made to brake pedal feel.
