Is the positive and the negative around the right way?
The same happened to me once using second hand subs. The previous owner had the subs wired around the wrong way, positive to the negative and had reversed the polarity. Making the sub bounce inwards instead of outwards. Which made the amp go to protection mode.
Also some subs which have a lower ohm rating than the amp will over heat your amp making it go to protection mode.
Does the protection mode go on straight away?
Make sure your ohm on the amp is the same as your ohm on the sub.
If you have a 4 ohm sub on a 8 ohm amp the amp will over heat or shut off because of the load on the amp.
You must match amp ohm's with sub ohm's!!

check and clean your amp earths! similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago, the amp earth looked fine so i left it. but i had a 3 vold voltage drop across the earth. clean it with sand paper even if it looks clean

edit, nevermind, i thought you were running all 3 subs! lol
my suggestion still stand though.
how did you wire up the sub?
the W7 runs dual 1.5ohm voice coils. if you wired the sub in parallel it would have presented a load under 1ohm which would really push the amp!
heres a diagram showing how it works

id say you fried your amp man
you need to tell us how you wired up the sub and also tell us what amp you were running with the sub

yeah we're not talking bout your subs or the other amp
seeing as your not really following what im saying, then id say you wired the W7 up as parallel which would place a load lower than 1ohm on the amp.
basically your amp was working far too hard for its own good and fried itself.

it gets a bit confusing lol
basically if the amp isnt coming out of protection mode, even with no speaker connected, then its toasted!

01-06-09, 19:31 GMT+10#11 Had a friend of mine who placed a 4ohm sub on a 8ohm amp. Within 2 months the amp wouldn't stop going into protection mode.
Anyway the technician said you have overloaded(fried) your amp because of the extra load.
Please, Please match your amp ohm to your sub ohm.
If not place a higher ohm sub on the amp, less load then.
Small ohm = More load.
What's the ohm rating on your amp?
