how come the vl had 114kw and the skyline had 117kw iv been told its the ecu i know its something a retard would ask but yeah

its to do with the intake, vl's have sloped bonnets and less room for the cross over pipe = less power. its also the reason vl's crack more heads than the skylines ever did. there's probably a propper explanation on here if you search though.

the reason the vl cracks heads is cause the radiator is lower then the cam making it harder to bleed

...because of the sloped bonnet, perhaps i should have written that better.

yeah its the different ecu i had a r31 stock as you can get and a mate had a vl with not much done and i destroyed the vl (both auto)

theres also a weight difference and i doubt that 3kw at the flywheel would make a difference that would end in 'destruction' of an opponent...

what about up against turbos? in every VL iv owned i can confidently say i had not been beatin by a skyline before.none were GTR though buh yeah i use to look out for skylines and nething with an SR in it for easy targets LOL.my mate also has a 33 and cant count the amount of times hes be blown by VLs

Diff gears, type of exhaust, slightly different ecu.. Shape of the crossover due to bonnet shape has nothing to do with it!

lol@ shape of crossover but yeah 3kw @ the flywheel is fuck all..

i think the diff ratio would be the main reason

diff ratio wouldn't affect the flywheel power of the car. I always thought the cam out of the skyline RB30 was a slighly different profile compared to the VL N/A item. 3kw at the fly is about as useful as farting for the extra acceleration it will provide.

yeh did some searching and apparently the engine iv had for years came from the factory with either 130 or 140kw, it was out of a gts skyline wagon, 1987 model from memory, wikipedia said the rb30 from vl = 114, r31=117, r31 gts1= 130, r31 gts2=140kw the extra gts power came from cam profile, better heads and something else, but thats all fuucked as i sold the head!!!

i heard that in the contract between nissan and holden they agreed that the r31 would be tuned for slightly more power as a sales tactic as the holden had the turbo one

edited, be nice -aus880 obsessv this is to u. i meant the reason he would be beating a vl off the line is cause of the diff gears!. u race someone with the same power as u (none) with 4.11s an see how well u go! and i was meant to quote malpaso in my first comment. so my answer is directed to him
