Boys, I need advice, comments, personal reviews on anti-theift ideas/products. Im getting a sound system put in my car after a road-worthy certificate and I need the car to have a low vulnerability at being stolen. So far the ideas are a kill switch and a steering lock, Solex locks have been brought up but some say they are crap, other's say they are worth the money. I dont know?

best idea, do research of the internet and dont post what you do on the internet. This has been discussed many times. At the end of they day if they REALLY want it, they WILL take it.

a decent alarm with immobiliser , kill switches , steering lock , etc anything that can least slow em down. Dont advertise your sounds by playing em loud through car parks etc. try not to park car in dodgy places etc. End of day all you can do is try slow em down or prevent it.

Solex locks are worse than standard locks. I actually had a solex lock stolen out of my car door the day i installed them.

at the end of the day Solex locks are no better then standard locks as there are both attached to the door the same way, with a stupid little clip, that will pop off with the right amount of force,

U live in Dande VLSabo? Best bet would be to sleep in your car. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

best would be seat covers, with a piece of wood under them and a 3" nail in it, so when they sit down.... they are disabled.. just dont forget the stick when you get to your car

As 4sakenvl has said alarm etc.. Try and park off the street, sensor lights around the house??. Don't tell people in your street what you have had done to the car. Don't pump your stereo or drive like a fool around your area...make sure your on tailed when returning home.

1. they don't need to steal your car to get the sound system 2. VL's are incredibly easy to break into and steal 3. sound system in VL and expecting to keep it there = crazy

Your best chance of keeping your car/stereo is prevention as i've said...but in saying that if some piece of scum wants your car/stereo bad enough they will get it no matter how careful you are.

Isn't prevention what he is trying to achieve?

mate, you can have the best alarm system in melbourne but if they want to get into your car they will no matter what... One other thing you can do is buy a large fat pad lock and put it on your shifter so they cant lift it up and put it into reverse or drive these are just some of the things that can PREVENT car theft, but if you really dont want it gone lock it in a garage get a wheel clamp and dont leave it anywere were you pritty much cnat see it.

don't waste your money on door locks mate makes no difference.... spend the money on an alarm system for the car. i have installed car audio and security for over 6 years and i think the best would have to be laserline or autowatch systems... these systems have glass break detection and also have ultrasonic internal sensors to pick up any movement in the car.... i know sounds bs but its true and they workgreat can't even get your arm in the car without it going off. these are fully approved alarms meaning- they have 2 points of immobilisation can be made to 3 starter, fuel pump ignition etc - all wires are black making hot wiring very difficult. - bonnet and boot protection - and battery backup siren even if they do somehow dissconnect battery it will go off. i have installed these in $10,000 plus stereo installs with no problems.. and finally make sure where u get it installed is a goverment approved installer... how its installed is very important hope that helps Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

alarms just make it take a little longer to get into the car, and drive off, thats all... remember, the XY stolen which was in a garage, with 2 cars and a boat or something infront of it? WHILE THE OWNERS WERE IN THE HOUSE! try a coil in the seat? oh, btw my mate had one with a ultrasonic or some**** inside it. left the car alarm on, and windows open, when he went to go pay for it, i took the stereo face inside to him and the installer... u just gotta move SLOWLY
