Hey all, After extensive searching i haven't been able to locate any information or pictures of the above. I want to put a scoop on my VL buy i don't like the VL Group A scoop and the Walky scoop will look too out of place against the rest of my kit. I like the look of the VK Group A / Group 3 scoop and it looks good on a VH/VK bonnet but as i am yet to see it on a VL bonnet i am a little undecided. So i have a few questions/notes below: I would like to see what it looks like on a VL bonnet - does anyone have any photos? Does anyone know if they will even fit - i mean is the VL bonnet the same rough size and does the bonnet run the same curve/angle as the VK bonnet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Jason

You can do it if you want to but a VK scoop on a VL is not the norm, its just the way, there is a rare mini VK scoop about the size of a VL HDT SS scoop but I have only ever seen a couple, ring around and see if you can get a little one made.

it wont be a straight up fit on the bonnet because of the curve on the vl, but it wouldnt be much work at all to get it o fit. wether it will look good or not, thats another thing!

Thanks for the input everyone... The main reason i want to put a scoop on it is that it is just too farken hot under the bonnet - there is nowhere for the heat to disperse, apart from under the car and through the firewall. In summer it gets soooo farken hot inside the car - it isn't too bad as i usually have the window down - however on hot, muggy, rainy days i can't put the window down without getting saturated!! Oh and its also my daily so i can't really afford to have it off the road. Quote: Originally Posted by obsesv you really shouldnt mix any other commodore with a vl, its just.... wrong! Hmmm... Well lets see shall we, my car currently has the following non VL items on it: VK Director side skirts VK Group 3 rear bumper VK door handles VK Berlina tail lights VZ front calipers and rotors VZ Clubsport mags 78 Statesman Deville TH400 trans 308 from an early model Commodore or possibly from an earlier Holden, pre Commodore. So obsesv, what exactly are you saying about my car?? Quote: Originally Posted by NZ EVLHSV How about a VS motor, VT gearbox, VX paint and VX rims? Man I feel bad for mixing up all that stuff on my car now I hope this is sarcasm Alex - I still personally believe it to be one of the best Walky reps i have seen - that colour you chose really suited the Walky kit, if it was the same colour as everyone else then i probably wouldn't have liked it half as much!! Well, i guess i've got some thinking to do then - does anyone know of a scoop that may suit it better, or are we all still on the 'no scoop' bandwagon? Cheers, Jason

Hmmm... Well it seems as thought the VK scoop wasn't the best idea. I have done some thinking and i saw a picture of a VL with a HDT Group A front bar and a Walky scoop on here and it didn't look too bad. I can't remember who's car it was though... What are people thoughts on the Walky scoop on a Non Walky VL... Or even worse on a VL with a HDT Group A front bumper, HDT Group A rear spoiler, VK Director side skirts and a VK Group 3 rear bumper? It's already an interesting combination so i'm not sure if adding the Walky kit will be so bad. Anyone have any pictures of Walky scoops on non Walky VL's? What are everyones thoughts? Cheers, J

I reckon if you did that you would need to go Walky front and rear bars, and door moulds. Basically like an F20 with a walky bonnet Or make a replica of the rare "Calais Walky" But I don't think you should mix a Brock front with an HSV bonnet Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Even though it is one of my only options i can't see myself mixing HDT items with HSV - It just doesn't feel right. My bodykit might be made up of various different makes and models but at the end of the day they are all HDT items. I might try some of that exhaust/heat wrap on the extractors to bring temps under the bonnet down a little. Also i have considered an HDT cold air tray thingy... Hang on i will find a pic of what i am talking about - just to save confusion... Like this! What's it called - HDT cold air tray? I'm not sure if it works very well without a hole in the bonnet/bonnet scoop - does anyone know if it'll make much of a difference? Cheers, Jason

even if it doesnt make a difference, it really dresses the engine bay nicely, not like it can reduce any performance.

The cold air tray will help stop the heat getting to the air cleaner, but won't help with heat in your bay Pull the rubber strip off for starters if you haven't already... it'll make a small improvement. Heat wrapping the headers will also help, but it's a bit of work

Another option is what CLNGMH did http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...ghlight=CLNGMH (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=163864&highlight=CLNGMH)

Yeah Alex that's what I was going to say but couldn't find the pic would be something I'd consider if temp is a problem
