Hi guys,
Any chance of giving the Thread Author the ability to DELETE or EDIT his/her OP?
Reason being:
I posted my Sisters Datto 1200 Ute up in the For Sale & Wanted section, back in JULY 05. Seven posts down, I posted "SOLD" and the thread was then (and still is) Closed.
She's still copping phone calls / emails for the ute (just got another today) and when asked where they saw it, they all point back to CT..
Shes getting a contacted about it on average - once every 3 months.. You'll even see in the thread where 12 months ago I posted:
"Not trying to bring this thread back from the dead, but my sister sold this long ago and is still copping emails!
SOLD!
Thanks!"
The fact that the thread says SOLD, The thread is CLOSED AND that the thread is close to 4 years old - obviously doesn't register with some people.
OR, if an Admin could delete the contact details from the thread, that would be great too!

Thanks heaps!
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
Have renamed the thread to include "SOLD" and have removed the contact details.
I wrecked a VL Calais close to 5 year ago. I still get calls to this day about it.. I just point out how much of a ****head they are cause the thread is 5 years old and then try to sell them other stuff.
oh... also deleted your last post in the thread so it didn't "bump" it up.

Cheers for that..
Haha, yeh.. Im just cut I never get that many calls for mine!
Takes all sorts..
Thanks again...
EDIT: Yep, thought about sending a PM, though figured (and proven by IVL) that others would be in the same boat, so having a 'delete' option might be worth a look..
i personally think a thread creator should have authority do do what they want to the thread.. weather it being deleteing posts or deleting/closing the thread..
if it's only THERE threads what problems could be caused? will also make less work for the mods deleting shit when you have 100 dreamers asking stupid questions
Alot of threads on here contain some very good information that can be helpful to other users. Just because YOU are finished with it - doesn't mean the rest of the site isn't going to re-read or look up that information.
Many times i've thought "i remember a thread where they talked about this or that" and am glad that it wasn't deleted so I could use the information from it.
Agree about the contact info and as such have removed it to curb the number of calls you are getting despite the car being sold ages ago. But I know somewhere along the line. If you delete the whole thread - someone will post up "anyone know where the thread for that Datto ute for sale went to? I remember seeing the pics and would like to see them again" or whatever.
I know other mods have posted in here but,
Quick and easy, click 'edit' on your post, delete everything and say 'sold'
This is just my personal opinion, but just removing the contact details or saying sold down the bottom is pointless, specially with that type of nice looking car, some 14 year old will get a stiffy after he see's the pictures and won't even read the rest of it and start pm'ing you to ask if you take lay-buy payments...
That or send us a nice to the point PM of what you want and a link to the thread of what you want (get rid of crap posts, change the title, close it etc) and we're more then happy to do it (well I am lol)... and say thank you lol
Totally agree with: "Just because YOU are finished with it - doesn't mean the rest of the site isn't going to re-read or look up that information."
I've no probs leaving the post up there.. Was just a thought about giving the OP those EDIT options, in the For Sale section only... I usually do just go 'Edit' and delete the contact details once sold.. but now that I think about it - I probably asked to get it closed - which in turn, removed my EDIT options..
All good!
Have a great Anzac long weekend!! (sucks to be you if your not in ACT or WA!)

What does "THERE" thread mean? Did you mean "their"? If so I'll say it again... the thread starter doesn't own the thread or rights to control what happens with it
Example of problem that would cause:
-You start a thread named "post pics of gay porn"
-I close it as it's not suitable for CT
-You say "it's my thread" and reopen it
-I post "go to www.gayporn.com (http://www.google.com) if you want those kinds of pics" and then close it
-You delete my post and say "piss off you homophobic prick" then reopen the thread
You get my point

Click the link and you'll find out
It's also a problem with for sale threads, as you'll get scammers taking advantage of their powers removing posts of people who have been ripped off etc. Best to leave the moderation to the mods and if you want something looked at either report the post or PM a mod
