I dont know what brand to pick for my car sound system, i want awesome sounds system. I was thing of these.
head unit : jvc or alpine or pioneer
6" and splits : pioneer
6x9's : Clarion or Pioneer
Subs : MTX or Kicker
Mono block :Jaycar or pioneer or kicker.
Amps : Kenwood or MTX
and i was going to pick the best i could find of those brands.
and in my VL can i run dvd/music player touch screen with spilts in front doors and 6" in back doors and 6X9's in parcel self and 1 amp and 1 mono block with twin subs. is that possible to run?

imo go alpine splits, type s or type r, X is jsut overkill but you will notice the difference of s and r, my alpine head deck is great has 3 rca outputs which is more then enough, 6x9 once again alpines i find are good, ive got them in my swift but all alpine gear is very expensive, for the sub you'll only need 1 kicker L7 if you want ur boot in 1 piece lol, but all the alpine gear is very pricey, alpine and jvc are good for price for performance as are clarion

Should i go type X or R ? yeah i was lookin towards pioneer alpine head units can i run 6 speakers , an amp, a mono block and twin or single sub in one car?
would i need 3 pre-outs to run 6 speakers cause i need to runn then off a 4 channel and 2 chnnel to head unit and the mono block so 3 amps or could i bridge them all?

Buy as much as you can off the net.. and get JVC!
Also when i was into sound systems (when i was 17-18.. long time ago) there was a site from sydney called FHRXstudios.com or somthing.. i got alot from there and my local sound shop also matched the prices too..
I think they have a site and real walk in shop.. try find them. back when i got my 1404 Fusion amp (minto amp too) they were $200 bucks cheaper..

19-04-09, 15:25 GMT+10#15 pioneer head units are known to get engine noises through the speakers.go with either jvc or alpine head unit, dont get 6x9s if u have subs coz that stupid,u get bass from ur subs so u dont need 6x9s,get 2 sets of splits,go with either focal or soundstream.then kicker subs, and either kicker or soundsream amps.

19-04-09, 16:07 GMT+10#16 just to add my 20 cents when it comes to stereo systems im pretty cluey lol...
look when you go putting a stereo in yolur car i have one general rule i like to keep all the speakers on brand if you pick alpine stick with alpine amps and subs... they are designed to run together and sound the best when matched... i hate mixing speakers and amps etc... u actually do notice better sound quality.
for example id go a JVC head unit
and type r splits at the front
type s or type r in the rear 6x9 or even 6inches
then your sub choice.
could get dual voice coil type r subs which is more than enough when hooked up properly and sounds best with a class D monoblock (apline amp)
realisticly how loud do you want you stereo to be this setup if you where gonna do it yourself would cost you betweeen 2000 and 2500.
just dont mix and match things.
they invest millions of dollars engineering products to run which need to run together
you do the math

19-04-09, 16:27 GMT+10#18 yeah good point never thought of it that way, thanks mate. one brand. whcih one out of pioneer, alpine or jvc. i was thinking alpine. my mums car is hooked up wit $3000 of pioneer audio ecpet for sub its kicker everything else is pioneer. but when she picked out her car audio she always pickd best and pioneer was always the best at car audio shops. and the system kicks pretty hard. and that running chev 350 motor in her VX ss and that sound system

so true, the onli thing i mix around is usually the head units, i think if its going in a vl1 type r sub will be enuf unless ur gonna sound deaden ur car...they rattle like cvnts you'll find, especially the back parts and teh bootlid, bootstrip and numberplate
