such stupid contradictions that article has pointed out, like the fact that an aurion has a 200kw v6, but is still not considered nearly as bad as something that is turbocharged and produces less power, and is possibly heavier. and what exactly makes a car 'green'. if its economy that makes a car 'green' then there lies another contradiction. brand spanking porsches are technically more economical than a 4 cylinder toyota camry. i highly doubt they're going to lift the ban on those though :P (no i did not make that up: porsche cayman 8.9l/100k, toyota camry 9.9l/100k) its stupidity, they're only justifying themselves jobs, making new laws in order to confuse everyone, so that the staff in the vic roads call centre have questions to answer; and so they can big-note themselves at press confrences. in relation to the above question, i doubt a vlt would be considered a 'green' vehicle... not exactly the most economical of cars. besides only hoons drive vl's, and hoons are the devil. however it does say this: Turbocharged vehicles will now be banned or exempt based on their power-to-weight ratio, with drivers able to gain exemptions if their vehicle produces less than 125 kW of power per tonne. But the revised rules still leave loopholes for powerful six-cylinder vehicles, which still escape the P-plate ban. The Toyota Aurion and RAV4 V6 offroader both produce more power per tonne than the rules allow but are still deemed suitable for P-platers. in other words, they're picking and choosing turbo-charged cars based on the old kw/tonne ratio. so theoretically yes, a vlt would be considered under 125kw/tonne, and therefore allowed. however i wouldnt get too excited untill something appears in writing on the vic roads site, that way you have some sort of proof that the law does exist... other than that article. vince.

The car's in BOLD are p PLATER legal.. ie: SAFE aka..ALLOWED ...and if your still lost, YES YOU CAN THRASH THEM! 200sx turbo S14 = 113 KW per tonne 200sx turbo S15 = 113 KW per tonne NOTE: the JDM import s15's are only an odd 187kw aswell, so roughly the same as an r34 GTT, so i assume they should be legal under these new law's 300zx TT 4 seater = 135 KW per tonne ..dam because i wanted one. Ford Falcon BF MK II XR6 Turbo = 137 KW per tonne 1988 VL Commodore SL Turbo Sedan = 111 KW per tonne 1988 VL Calais Turbo Sedan - 108 KW per tonne.. the calais is like 50KG heavier lol 2007 Holden Astra SRi Turbo = 105 KW per tonne 1994 Nissan R33 GTS-T / 1998 R34 GT-T Skyline coupe = 121 KW per tonne any model TT supra or SOARER are out of the question, 208 KW and both vehicles weigh just over 1.4 T, they come to roughly 142 KW per tonne.. 1999 MY99 WRX = 126!!!! kw per tonne, it exceeds by 1KW.. so its considered a high powered vehicle, BTW! a ****en WRX is only 1.2 tonne..wtf, thats so light i never new that! ANYTHING with an SR20DET or CA18DET.. can be driven now assuming it is "stock" and unboosted. so now all p platers can drive a ****en brand spanking new Spec R s15 or a 92 model 180 with 11inch SSR's on the rear, its assumed as a "non high powered vehicle" same with skylines, which is what im SO HAPPY about now, r34 and r33 skylines are now drivable under the new law's.. ive always wanted a 34 manual gtt.. mmmmmm..
