Hi Guys, thinking of buying a Microtech LT8 off a mate for a reasonable price. Was wondering hes car was running 250+ rwkw with the appropriate tune set accordingly. My car is pretty much stock so if l installed this in my car can it be re-flashed to factory spec? If yes, can it be adjusted with the hand held computer that connects to the ECU or do l need to take it to someone to clear the tune and then retune it from scratch? much appreciated for your feedback. cheers

Microtech can return the ECU to factory specs for $80 + postage, you can tune them with the handcontroller but it would be extremely hard and when its not hard to get a laptop with cable/software.. But dont be tuning it yourself also.. thats asking for problems.

Is it relatively easy for an auto elec or any performance workshop to calibrate it? In other words user friendly? cheers

l will be getting the ECU, but it doesn't have the hand held, what are the advantages/disadvantages of the hand held? Little double minded because if it doesn't have the hand held l'm not too sure...

you can buy a hand controller, the lt8 is laptop compatible so its better than the mt8 which isn't, unless you get it updated.. I'm using an lt8 with mine for now..

No you dont need a hand controller to tune the ecu but you will need to find a workshop the tunes microtech's cause you need the software and a dongle. How much is the LT8? Microtech dont sell LT8s anymore only lt10 or lt12. The difference is that lt8 and lt10 have only 4 ignition and injectors outputs so you have to fire batch injectors. Lt12 have 6 outputs so you can fire the injectors individually. no real advantage on a vl most ppl go the LT10.

What is a dongle? Any difference between lt8 and lt10? So if l but the lt8 all l need is the hand held controller and thats it? Could someone give me a contact number or a website where l can get the handheld from? cheers

The LT10S ECU is essentially an LT8 ECU in every aspect BUT it has 1 extra auxilliary input wire and 3 auxilliary outputs in total. These Aux outs are set up standard as stepper motor control, one switched output via RPM and one switched output via water temp (Eg FAN contol). The unit also has a built in ignition amplifier on board. It is commonly used for 4 cyl and twin rotor applications. This unit is now the size of our MT4 unit. We believe its physically the smallest ECU on the market that controls fuel and ignition 3. You don't need the hand controller, it is laptop and handheld compatible. 4. Just a bit of a deviation from the thread title, but does the LT10s tend to 'lose' its tune over time, and can Nissan electronic systems such as VCT and ATTESSA be made to work with one of these ECU's?

The ECU doesn't loose its tune. Other things on the car might change like fuel pressure due to worn fuel pump or other items, this will have an effect on your tune. The Microtech Range of ECU does not have a snowballs chance in hell of controlling the Nissan ATTESSA system the VCT can be sort of controlled, the aux output can only switch or pulse according to a one or a two inputs, RPM or TPS or MAP. Basically a very basic and dumb ECU.

Yeah I was thinking more of just passing on the TPS signal to the ATTESSA computer sorry, Skylines Australia has been fairly unhelpful with anything Microtech due to the fact that most Skyline owners don't use them. Basically I've tried directly wiring up the TPS in and TPS out wires from the RB20 loom which is still wired up in the car and then the TPS out from the Microtech to the TPS out on the original loom but still no good! Yeah I had heard something vaguely about VCT being switched on by the AUX RPM function and then having to be told to switch off again at 5000RPM.
