a little off topic but its illegal to move it? Im not up on the laws down there.. and the best place for it, is the bin. After market ECU I had mine (with stock intake) where you pointed out in the last pic, it didnt affect idle or stalling after flutters.. I also had it about 100mm away from the TB with an after market intake and it was 100% the same.

imo that position is way too exposed to the elements, especially water.

Thats a damn decent idea you've got there, but as said i'd be worried about it getting wet. Maybe make up a bit of a sheild??

Hey mate i moved my AFM about 4 months ago the car has been running so much better and made the trip from North QLD to WA no worries. I put it just a bit further around from where u want to put it but i am sure it will work where u want to put it good luck. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

my old set-up i had the afm placed near the radiator on the cold side, never had any problems with melting etc, my new set-up i have the afm right on the throttle body but that is with a jd custom forward facing plenum, so the afm now sits where the battery originally did, also the stock wiring to afm reaches over there easily once pulled out of the main loom, so you shouldnt need to extend it.

i just moved mine a week ago i have the same cooler kit and i put mine where jubs11 said he put his and mine is fine i just got sick of the spluttering after boost. i read on here someone did a back to back dyno test 1st in orig spot and second in the piping it lost 5kw in the piping. but i prefer it running better.

Same as above, as in the second pic and car runs great. If you blow a cooler pipe chances are it will be before the AFM ie car will still run. That has saved me twice as i wasnt able to get the pipe back on and was able to limp home.
