recently bought some coulson's thanks to big kev's love bus payment. Have you guys had any trouble mounting them into vl's. I bought the seats without rails so i plan to get them fitting right before i sent to the trimmer. What have you guys done so they sit low and well. Also has anybody got the side plastics pieces that sit in the side of the vx seats, including the recliner lever or winder. Thanks in advance for your help

are you planning on using the vl rails? i cant speak for coulsons man but i recently put in a set of autotechnicas from repco, and it was a cnt of a job. reason being they dont sell rails to suit the vl but they do to match the seat. but if you get those rails 1: they will require different holes to be drilled in the floor and 2: if you have a look at the passenger rails of the front vl seat they are at different heights to each other, so using the autotechnica rails the seat would have sat at a fcked up angle. that being the case i used the vl rails and had to use mounting brackets to mount the seats to the rails. the mounting brackets were just heavy pieces of flat steel mounted perpendicular to the rails (ie parallel to the dash), and bolted them to the seats and the seats to the rails. lining up holes and getting bolt heads to clear other bits was a nightmare. im not sure if vx/vy etc rails sit like vl ones do, i dont think so as its related to the shape of the floorpan of the vl, which means the easiest way is to use the vl rails so they bolt staight to the floor, then fck around trying to bolt the seats to the rails. there is a thred on here about vy seats into a vl will try to find and link it for ya. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...=fitting+seats (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=23427&highlight=fitting+seats) some info on this one bout vt seats couple of other things too man. everything you use must be ADR compliant, if you have genuine coulsons shud be cool, if you have vl rails mounted to the floor in the original spot shud be cool too, i contacted the tech section at the pits and he said the seats must be in the exact same position as the old ones or you will need engineers cert. you must also use high tensile bolts (avail from bunnings) and spring washers, as in the event of a bad head on u dont want to launch thru the windscreen still stapped to your seat. honestly, if you can spare a few hundred more, i would take it to an engineer, youll save a massive headache and ul have a certificate at the end too. i only did mine cos i had that "i want to do something to my car" feeling. end rant. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

87hevn - Thanks very much for the post, i think i'll go with the easiest option, in being VL rails. Ill get the fabricators at work to weld up a a 10mm adaptor plate so the rails can be mounted to the coulsen frame. I'll use high tensile bolts and spring washers throughout. Thanks once again, your help has been useful. Luke

[IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] second shot is looking at the passenger floor rails at the front, notice the end of the mounting bar towards the front, bout 3 inches wide. last shot is looking at the drivers side, notice the up/down adjustment on the original calias rail at the front, the recliner mechanism at the back is part of the autotechnica seat. was originally lookin at isottas but these were 300 the pair down from 600 so i grabbed em. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
