Being in the sheet metal trade, we originally made up an airbox and a heat sheild (among other things) for our own VL Calais Turbo a few years ago to imporove performance and replace the crappy looking original items, and since then we have had mates also want them, which quickly turned in mates of mates and so on, which is how we have come into manufacturing.
**NEWLY LISTED**
VL Under Car 2L Surge Tank
-Fully welded Stainless Steel
-4 inch diameter
-Bolts into standard fuel filter mounts
-$220 + Freight
The Second item is a Stainless Steel Airbox that we have designed to keep engine temperatures and dust away from your engines Pod filter, resulting in lower engine temperatures and longer time between Pod Filter cleans. The Airbox's normally sell for $220, but for everyone on CalaisTurbo.com.au we are advertising them for $195.
Note: You have a choice of 3-inch or 4-inch Pod filter mouth.
A Cold Air Intake is an extra option for your Airbox (added $40) that will increase the performance of your VL by the direct flow of cold air to your airfilter, also resulting in cooler engine temperatures. (Intake Diameters can be either 3inch or 4inch)
Note: A Hole must be cut through metal work, but has been designed in a specific way that once original Airbox is refitted to vehicle the hole cannot be seen.
Airbox has been designed to simply bolt into the factory mounting points of the standard airbox, and Airflow Meter. (No Modifications required to vehicle)
Airbox has been designed to encorporate drag use, once passenger side headlight has been removed, the Airbox is designed to catch cold air around your air filter, resulting in more performance from lower intake temperatures and higher cold airflow.
To sum that all up if it sounds confussing:
-VL Stainless Steel Airbox $195 (Outside Walls Brushed Stainless Steel Finish)
-Polished Outside walls of airbox (as pictured) - Extra $40
-Cold Air Intake Pipe - Extra $40
Note: for the guys and girls not running a airflow meter, we can fabricate 3 or 4 inch pipe instead of the airflow meter mount for no extra cost.
We are Happy to post Australia wide, we'll charge postage costs at a case by case basis to prevent overcharging people, or undercharging ourselves.
The Airbox fitted up to one of our Vehicles
The Third item is a Stainless Steel Exhaust heat sheild designed to suit the standard VL turbo exhaust manifold.
The exhaust heat sheild has been designed to replace the ugly/ordinary looking original one, in my experience most of the original ones have been lost, or are cracking and falling apart.
The heat sheilds are $140 and include nuts, bolts, and washers required for mounting.
Once again we are happy to post Australia wide at a case by case basis so no one is over-charged and we are not undercharged.

Would you be able to mod the heat sheild to be a bit wider in places? So it comes all the way down and completely covers the exhaust manifold without being able to see any of it.
And also quick question, how come no top to the airbox?

We can make it wider in places if you like, it was designed to suit a number of different applications, so either people running the standard cross-over pipe, or people running complex intercooler piping can use this heat sheild.
The box doesnt have a top purely for versatility reasons, so you are not limited to what size pod filter you have, the Pod filter we had fitted to our vehicle had a 4 inch pod mouth and a wider filter diameter and it poped out about 8mm.
Thanks for your feedback Shaun, it is always good to get peoples opinions, these options can always be added, it will be quite easy to fabricate a lid for the Airbox, if people prefer it.

Ok cool. The airbox would look pretty sweet with a lid on it. I will let you know when I can get one and try it out.

For the first month we will be throwing in a stainless steel fuse box trim with every purchase, obviously it doesnt do anything other than bling up your engine bay (For more pics of our items visit http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...5&l=c8a8e6d5da (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2007657&id=1596711965&l=c8a8e6d5da))

14-04-09, 22:38 GMT+10#13 [SleepyVL] I am currently tracking down a fitting for the 044 fuel pump in stainless steel so you will shortly have that as a option. I dont have any pics of the tanks hooked up at the moment.
[patch] The Fuse box trim is only for the stainless peice for the top of your standard fuse box lid to bling it up. Personally I'd much rather pay $40 for our one, than pay $220 for the chrome plated plastic ones on ebay, thats why we made one up for our Calais. It is nothing technical, but it sure does make the boring lid look pretty neat.

22-04-09, 08:25 GMT+10#15 Brad '7FOUR7''s Airbox with lid and 4 inch intake pipe (instead of Air Flow Meter mount.) Turned out really well.
Lid bend finishes flush with bottom of the radiator support panel so "unwanted peeping eyes" cannot see your pod
