Hey fellas, I was in the market to purchase a HID Kit. I checked up on ebay and saw prices from $50-300. Now besides the obvious factors such as quality etc what are the major difference between them all. And if anyone has them, what are the up's and down's? Because I do know that some of them do not meet the ADR standards and you can get done for them. Any info will be appreciated. cheers

a proper ADR setup will include a height balancer and a water squirter for them, also a clear lens, not the ripply vl finish

Must be more info on these HID Kits, I too am in the market for a set... wondering about High- Low beams... I believe they dont all have both high and low beams. And how easy are they to setup in the VL?

ADR 78/00 has all the info on gas discharge lights. Too much crap to have a proper setup if it isn't factory. Not worth it IMO.

Does anybody know any site which have decent setups for sale? I saw some on an american site for $420 which are 12,000k (Violet Purple) Which are the ones I want (I think the new VE's have these eg. Caprice, Statesman, HSV's.... cuz they always look purple) Can't find anything in Australia though.

Forget retro fitting these lights. If you want some go buy a new car that has them factory fitted

Mate, I dont mind spending $500 if I have to on HID's... My headlights now are way way way below average!! I need new Reflectors and the actual headlight case. So I figured if I'm going to spend $200 on new headlights... I may as well go all out and get HID's! I also need a new indicator stalk as my Hi-Beam does not work...

Yeh true... I put good phillips bulbs in mine and it made no difference but then again... it looks like it might make a big difference if the reflectors werent turning yellow!! I think I will get some TYC headlights first and see how they go with just the Filament Bulbs and then if I'm not happy I will go HID.

i had 130's in my vl when i first got it... one blew so i threw the other out.. they were bright then... a full on conversion kit from bosch i think is like 2500, auto leveling, and squirters, but then you still need a clear unripply lens

and with bigger bulbs you still have to worry about your fuse box melting on hi beam Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
