Hey everyone.
My mate was given a spare aftermarket ECU when he bought his Calais, and has decided to give it to me! It is a Stinger EMS 4424 v4. I was trying to get ahold of some feedback, if anyone has had any experience, heard anything about them? I have looked all over the net and searched through the CT forums, but noone has really offered much advice or opinion on them
My next move was to purchase an aftermarket ECU anyways, so this is a great help. I'm eventually looking to be making about 220-230kw on my rb25. Nothing too major, as it is my daily. But that figure is long down the track, blah blah. Just trying to see (before I ask the blokes at HyperDrive) if this ECU will be applicable to me, and if anyone has had any problems (heard some places might have difficulty tuning them because they aren't common), or even has any good points! One difficulty I can see is that the ECU didn't come with a loom or any wiring.. (Any ideas?).
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Ps. Please don't say anything along the lines of "sell it and buy a microtech". I have been given a free ECU and I am gonna try my hardest to make it fit in with me haha.
Here is a pic:
Thanks,
Joel

Yea thats definately a bit score. They dont have a super fine tuning resolution compared to the better ems models but they are widely used and produce good results.
If you want to buy a loom they are about 200 from memory try www.enginemanagementsystem.com (http://www.enginemanagementsystem.com) and check out the forum.

The EMS Stinger is a very good ECU for what you want. The only mod you have to do to your car is Drill the distributor shaft and rotate the rotor button. (this is for injection timing) I have tuned several of these and made upto 300kw in a VL and even more in several V8's.
The resolution of the stinger is user definable, so you can put more load and rpm sites in if required.
Another good feature of the Stinger is the ablity to map trace and tune via a Wide band 02 sensor that can be wired direct to the ECU.
This ECU runs ring around any model Microtech.

i was just about to write the same thing! i have used these in a few of my cars incl a few rotaries! you can tune these more finer than a microtech and the fuel economy is s$%t loads better too!!! and it holds its tune better!!
