does it also splutter a bit? might not be getting adequate fuel, probably wouldn't hurt to check your fuel filter?

i have the same problem with my car at the monment. mine only does it the first time after it has been sitting round for a day. im pretty sure it is fuel pressure problem. From what i can work out it is either fuel pressure reg, external fuel pump (it has a one way valve to hold pressure) or maybe internal pump not working properly to sart with. Im changing my internal pump 2morrow hopfuly so ill let u know if it fixes it. Yours sounds like reg if it does it again straight away. hook a fuel pressure gauge up to it if have access to one n see if its holding pressure when the car is turned off.

I had a issue with my car starting. It would take around 4 seconds to start or longer. I replaced the starter motor with a new high torque starter motor because the original starter motor was a bit tired and 20 years old. Now with the new starter motor, first click and she starts straight away. Sorry I didn't read properly. So your car starts first click, if it does your problem might be your ignition barrel.

Is it doing it after you hold ignition on for a bit still or is it fine after that? Put your ignition on for 5sec and see if it starts straight away, if it does it's just fuel pressure building up dude.

Yep second that leaking injectors drops fuel pressure when switched off . ---------- Post added 06-12-12 at 18:04 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by Sic_VL_Ex [View Post] Got an issue with my VLT, engine cranks fine but wont start unless i hold the key on for a bit then it trys to fire and if i hold for a bit more it will fire up. runs fine after that no issues. but as soon as i switch it off and try again it does the same thing... any ideas????
