Yes it is.
If it's your first respray, acrylic is much more forgiving.
Id recommend you try painting a few old panels until you feel comfortable painting the whole car. All in all, its a MASSIVE job if you want it to turn out decent.

i say do it
if your not fussed about havig to fix a few runs here or there then yeah go for it
at least prep the car yourself
ive prepped mine and done the bay (havent painted though), its a great way of learning and as long as you research alot first, youll be fine

ok mate, if your unsure on your colour look at your compliance plates and match it up with the thread that has all the codes on the forum here somewhere, good luck with it too man.
http://calaisturbo.com.au/showthread...t=option+codes (http://calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=24924&highlight=option+codes)
EDIT: i would also suggest not fully stripping the car, just do the exterior, will make it much easier. its do-able cause your doing the sme colour obviously

03-03-09, 18:58 GMT+10#14 lol well it certainly helped improve my understanding of paint
and i think the min compressor flow is around 15cfm (or 12, cant remember lol) or 2.5hp
some have done it with less, but more is better

03-03-09, 19:10 GMT+10#15 im about to do the same thing myself. was kimberly bronze and MX grey. going to Silverslate over Asteriod silver. done all the prep work myself., just a few little things like door jambs to do before i can lay some colour.
i've got a 2.5hp compressor and a 1.4mm and a 1.7mm gun to do acrylic with, the smaller gun for the clear.
when its over, i'll be happy if i never pick up a sanding block ever again =]

yeah that sounds good, dont bother with stripping any interior or anything. just mask up windows and **** and spray the outside.

03-03-09, 20:39 GMT+10#19 my wifes car was a home job-
so was my vl engine bay
Home made spray booth
it is all about prep.... my engine bay was rubbed after painting with 2000 grit wet and dry and buffed through three stages of compound but was worth it
