. .story of yesterdays events (16.3.09) seeing as its now 2:40am: Well today started ok, got up in the morning done the normal things, round 10am we went out, went to the shopping centre, then to the markets, and was on the way to go see the grandparents... Now to get to the grandparents theirs numerous ways to get in to their little estate bit... depending on the lights on the main road normally depends what way I go, if the arrows green I turn right if not I go straight through and turn further up, Turning light was red so I went through the intersection, the road is 2 lanes wide that goes into one further up, so I stuck to the right lane knowing I would have to turn very shortly anyway, there was a 4x4 Navara like car towing a tradies trailer (u know the ones with an apex roof on them but not very high) that was in the left lane turning left into a street, I was sitting a little back behind him in the outside lane doing 40klm/hr (due to roadworks but the end road works sign was on the street corner and goes to 70klm/hr anyway ) and as the 4x4 was turning I had just started to pass him and seen a front end of another 4x4 turning right out of the street and everything just went to slow motion and WACK..... She hit the rear left of the VL... i hit the brakes and thought, WTF! She obviously didnt see me, maybe glanced over and not noticed or maybe the 4x4 and trailer may have been blocking some of her view... but she should not have moved! If she couldnt see clearly! She was at a give way sign!!..... She pulled over as I quickly did a U Turn... mind you there were other cars around and no one bothered to stop as a witness, but anyway, my mother exchanged details, insurance stuff ect ect while I took photos.... Luckily mum has Full Comprehensive insurance and I am covered the same as her when driving the car on my L Plates.... So hers is some pics of the damage! Rear cornor: Back of car: Inside boot: (notice the extra support bar! This is part of the Hayman Reese towing kit! It has taken alot of the impact, if that was not there it probably would of gone further in!.. in fact i could easily get my spare out as it was pushed up against it) And this all the damage done to hers (pretty sad aye): And this is where it happened: .... not very happy we have spoken to the ladys husband, he has spoken to his insurance company (G.I.O) and his car is already going in tomoro to be fixed, G.I.O will ring us tomoro or wendsday and then the VL will be assesd then we will most likely need 2-3 quotes then it will be repaird. can anyone reccomend a good panel beater around the kilsyth area to get a quote from? cheers Ben Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
