Harts Transmissions in Brendale. I have been recommended to go there by quite a few people regarding my MX7. Haven't been yet so can't give you a personal account, however have never heard a bad word about them.

Why would you rebuild the MX7? Surely the cost of that would rival simply replacing it with the superior, R33 five speed?

Not really, an R33 conversion is still going to be more expensive, plus then your still getting a box that's 15 odd years old and had the ****house flogged out of it, whereas if you get your MX7 rebuilt its virtually brand new again with a warranty and all. I know the R33 is probably better overall but its going to cost more dosh.

i have a old mx7 if you need parts, depending on what you need. if you are making decent HP, don't bother with the mx7, go r33.

well it doesnt need complete rebuild, im not exactly sure what the parts are but it is only a couple of things, like part of the selector rail (im guessing its called...no idea) and like a washer that sits behind bearing or something. i just need to get it back on road for new job i just started. tempest im pretty sure you may be able to help me out, im only making bout 340hp ish at wheels. is it pulled apart at all or still ready to go? pm me if you would like. cheers everyone

I remember a while back there was a guy on here saying he could get full rebuild kits to suit the MX7, I pm'd him about the cost was somewhere between 500~600. Think he was from SA. A search might bring it up. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=110672 ^^^ here you go, it's a bit old, but hey you never know.

Yeah, I got a PM from that guy about rebuild kits for MX7 and MF5s. There's apparently a couple of different versions of MX7s, so it can be tricky to get the right kit for them.

Ha, my 33 box held on strong at powercruise... Now its sitting behind 700hp of rb power. Billy, is it driveable at all?

I'm pushing over 400hp at the wheels now on my r33, still holding in there. run redline oil in the box if you get a 33 one, heaps better than the normal stuff. bill - let me know what parts you need, the box is sitting at work, I'll get out what you need.

nah it doesnt drive at all, you put in in any gear from 1st - reverse clutch out and nothing happends just revs. we pulled it out and took it aprt and found part of the selector shaft is broke and the was a some sort of washer split in half that fell out when we open it up. there was no metal shavings or anything in oil, it still looked brand new.
