after a quick search (it's amazing the search function, click here (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/search.php?) to use it); I found a thread on how to identify the difference, not that I could have told you, I just thought I could teach you how to search the forum the series two block has the oil feed/return and coolant valves blocked off, ready to bolt a snail on. the series one block didn't and you would have to drill & tap the necessary valves in, which is generally a pain in the ass anyhow here is how to identify: also this: Image Sources: http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=157204 http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=147633 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

no but the real thing that will get you, and is a real argument is there is no such thing as a series 2 vl they are all series one which had running changes thoughout the life of the vehicle. If anyone can find me some documetation from a holden owners manual any holden publication I will stand corrected but there is no series 2 vl

There is no 'series 2' but its just easier to say that the block with the bunged fittings is series 2 to identify it's ready for boost

There was never a s1 or 2 in a vl, its just a figure of speach.

There were so many difference changes in the production of the vl. Holden never called its s1/2 But I do admit I still call the na blocks with no oil or water S1.
