just picked up my calais which i got for $900 so as you can imagine its in need of a little love..one of the problems ive found so far is that the drivers side bonnet hinge bolt has broken off leaving part of the bolt in the thread.. has anyone got a broken bolt out of there before and how did you do it? cant really get to it from inside the engine bay so iam thinking the guard has to come off to gain acces.any help greatly appreciated

Umm.....you mean the broken part of the bolt will be left in the bonnet? Use a screw extraction tool, or look for screw extractors tradies in the yellow pages.

Ezy Out kit, or go to someone who can do it if you aren't confident to do it yourself. Not hard to do, but also easy to screw it right up with a little slip.

I think he is talking about the arm that the bonnet bolts too and where it is fixed onto the body? if so i think i remember seeing one broken like that before and it looked like an absolute prick to get too even with the gaurd off!

Loctite Freeze works good I've heard, apparantly when you spray it on the bolt it reduces the temperature sub zero causing the thread to shrink. I've also heard of people spraying this on their intercooler when drag racing.

As you can see lots of work to be done. The yellow circle is where the bolt is.its the one that goes into the body of the car.
