Hey guys, I have removed alot of window tint at my previous job so I thought I would throw up a tech article.
First off what you will need guys;
- Heat gun and if you dont have one, steal your gfs, sister, mum, hair dryer.
- Razor blades.
- 2000 grade steel wool (can be found at any hardware store or paint shop)
- Methlated spirits
- Couple clean rags
Alright, this is basically how its done with minimal effort.
Heat the glass surface that doesn't have the tint on it (outter side) untill almost too hot you can't touch but not too hot the bigger patch you can heat up the better, then in the conrner slit the tint and peel away, sometimes you can be lucky enuf that all the window tint will come off all at once or maybe even leave no glue, however dont peel away if the glass is not hot.
Then once the tint has been removed and the glue is left behind, soak the steel wool in metho and rub the glass with the steel wool in a circular motion quick hard and quick and then wipe away with a clean rag. This should leave the glass clean and micky mouse.
Hope this helps guys,
Wayne.

this is good info just 2 questions
1-how long would it take to get the worst tint off ?
2-and how long for an easy tint to get off ?
just gives us an idea with the time involved to do the job.

18-06-09, 11:00 GMT+10#10 The worst possiable tint that comes off 1cm peices at a time like fpos can take upto a couple hours if every window is covered and the glass looking totally clean no glue, and if the tint is good then it can only take like 30 minutes for a whole car. Some of the japanese tint car be a real cvnt when peeling off the film as even if the glass is heated it may still come off in 1098349284 different little peices.
