OK, so I'm finally putting my car back together, and typically, I've already forgotten where a few bits and pieces go. I've got a Gregorys manual, but it doesn't always go into enough detail. Seeing as this is gonna be a slowish process, and there is bound to be several things I gonna need help with I thought I would create my own special thread!
So today I need to know which hole in the firewall the fuse box loom goes through. There are two large round holes in the left hand side of the firewall, I'm just not sure if the loom goes through the upper or lower hole. Can anyone confirm?
Cheers
Tom

28-01-09, 18:17 GMT+10#10 Its common for there to be random unused plugs on a wiring loom. Many cars only have one wiring loom to cover all models, from the pov packs to the fully loaded ones. Makes manufacturing simpler and cheaper. There are wiring diagrams in the Gregorys manual if its reeaally bothering you, but they all look like gibberish to me! It's weird that unplugging it stops your car starting, I would've thought most of the electrics associated with the auto would've been bypassed or overridden when the conversion was done.
So is that thing that is sat on the battery what is on the other end of the plug?

28-01-09, 18:21 GMT+10#11 according to gregorys manual,it is a 'neutral saftey switch'
yeah on top of the battery

28-01-09, 18:30 GMT+10#12 yeh the 3 connectors are for the auto box, and the metal plate is the neutral selector switch for auto box, you need manual box loom to make the reverse lights work etc

28-01-09, 18:34 GMT+10#13 There you go then. Bizarre how it still works even though its not connected to anything. I'm guessing your reverse lights have been boogied up somehow to make em work. Unless of course they don't!

28-01-09, 18:35 GMT+10#14 you will still need that white thing, unless you find the two purple wires and join them.

if you want to remove the auto plug and harness, its easy to unplug and remove it...BUT... you will have to bridge the two purple wires in the front drivers side of the engine bay, the plug looks the same as the manual harness plug and has yellow ends on it and leads to a relay, remove that too, make a loop wire or cut and solder the purple wires, the manual versions had a loop plug, try and get one of those so its plug and play.
hope that helps.

31-01-09, 19:33 GMT+10#17 yea i joined those purple wires together a few months back coz the relay pooped itself and wuldnt let me start (becoz their is no auto gbox for that neutral start switch to plug onto).
just bought a calais today its still got the auto so i'll have a look tomorrow and try figure something out.
