This is the story of my build so far I bought my S2 VLCT on the 4th of February 2007 It had what I was told (later found out it wasnt) an r33 5spd behind a freshly built engine with a ASE plenum and cooler kit running about 12psi through the standard turbo. Im not sure how much power she had but it went pretty good. The exterior of the car was largely unmodified except for some average 17s and rust around the rear windscreen. The interior had a pioneer sound system and an isotta twirler. Other modifications were limited to slotted rotors. So I was back in a VLCT and very happy, UNTIL one day (not long after I bought it) I went to a car wash to wash my car. When I was pressure cleaning (with there hose) the roof of my car, paint chips started to peel off. I panicked and stopped washing lol. When I returned home I got onto ct.com and hatched a cunning plan My grandma was due to fly out to the uk in 3days and as such would not be requiring her car for 12wks, I decided this was enough time to get a quick spray and get her back on the road WRONG! Over the preceeding few days I stripped my car right back, after a few phone calls later it was booked into a crash shop to have the rear panel (below the windscreen) replaced with a genuine new one, the rust near the front windscreen to be cut out and a replacement panel fitted. Under the bonnet was going to be cleaned up and at the same time I removed the ac and the fuse box and had the holes filled in. Also on the deletion list were the door locks. All of this was then going to be resprayed a pearl white over a dark grey. 4wks into the process I received a call from a close friend who told me he could get a brand new gt35/40 for $1100 SOLD! I said and the build for more power began. By this stage my partner was becoming a bit annoyed as my quick cheap spray turned into a near bare metal respray and the pearl white was ditched in favour of the not yet released (at that time) voodoo blue. Little did I know that my car was destined to sit in the crash shop for 18months before I would get it back. While my car was away I got stuck into the engine. Seeing it had been freshly built I had no need to pull the internals apart however I did sell almost everything that was on it and started again. Beginning with a high mount manifold to hold the GT 35/40 and a Tial 44mm gate to vent the gasses. The stock injectors made way for some bosch motorsport 363 injectors while the factory pump was ditched in favour of a bosch 044. With the bigger turbo the factory cam was no good so out she came in place was put a wade 818b with new lifters and springs. The rest of the engine received a tidy up with a new water pump, timing belt and Welch plugs being fitted. The brains controlling all of the new gear is a microtech LT8 with a h/controller. Now the car would have the go to match the show HOWEVER when I took a closer look at the g/box I noticed that it was strangely small compared to my old r33 5spd. I checked the receipt I was given with the car and it clearly said rebuilt r33 5spd I returned the g/box to where it was purchased and after some negotiations a REAL r33 spd was givin. To make sure all the power can be transferred a Xtreme extra h/duty clutch package was put together. The factory lsd has been shimmed up nice and tight so now the drivetrain is very fresh. The car is now being put back together and I hope to have it complete by mid year. The plans to finish it off are a vs/vt brake conversion with vt calipers and wh grange rotors up front, full braided lines for the turbo and a set off nice 18’s to roll on. Anyways thanks for reading and I will continue to add pictures as it slowly goes back togther. The engine is yet to be tested but I have it on good authority that it should be making about 250 – 300rwkw. Any comments are welcome Cheers Ben Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Nice write up, its come a long way. It's looking great can't wait until it's all on one piece. I really like your setup, I'd like to have one similar in the future. Did you also have a white over mx grey vlct before this one?

That colour is mad. Should look absolutely mint once its all back together. Looks like you are putting together a decent engine for it too. Good luck with the rest of the build

The two tone was a great decision too Ben, single tone with a colour like this would be pretty hard to take in and the silver compliments the metallic in the paint perfectly. Who's going to do your tuning etc?
