no reason why it shouldn't start first crank like factory, regardless of cam size etc, albeit higher rpm to compensate etc.
a microtech will never ever, make it start like that, doesn't have the capability, mapping nor outputs for advanced idle valves.
but you can still get it to start "ok" and live with it.
but if you want it near perfect or are a real fussy ****, never going to happen with these basic aftermarket ecus.
drivability should be fine, would need to talk to your tuner about tuning in either microtech conventional mode or matrix mode however, as they all have different thoughts on what is best.

every ecu is only as good as the monkey putting the details into it.
my microtech on my 1jzgte was perfect, i remember kicking it over one morning for jamboree and the air temp and water temp was only 8 deg, its started first hit of the key and never stalled.
i have had other peopel say they cant cold start without applying throttle.

18-12-08, 13:42 GMT+10#11 Ive got an old MT8 it starts first go i was able to drive off the spot 10 seconds after starting as long as it was with light throttle, but its too hard now with the button clutch.
Drivability is fine, get it tuned by someone who does microtechs and you will have no problems.

18-12-08, 14:30 GMT+10#12 I got a wolf and was told it takes two full rotations of the motor before it will fire just to get it all calibrated right.. True? is that still classes as "First go" as you are all claiming?

as has been covered here before, you can have the best ECU in the universe, with a **** tuner though - the result will be poor
the last tune I had done was by electronic automotive in epping - by tim - he was excellent and the tune and drivability of my car was fantastic (raptor supercharged vn v6) - he had the car for 3 days to make sure that cold starts were right also.
have a chat with a few tuners - see what they recommend as ECUs?
autronic or motec - great ECU's - plenty of support - the motecs are a brilliant unit - adaptability to just about everything and the guys there know what there is to know about the things...again - it all comes down to your tuner matey.

23-12-08, 13:59 GMT+10#16 Hi grega,
yes i'd have to agree with you 1000%.
the computer you have...microtech??
danny bresciani will be tuning the vehicle, so the tuner, i think, is up to the task, but, im fussy when it comes to cold start and driviablility.

23-12-08, 20:03 GMT+10#17 mick, no, kalmaker, so - a delco ECU
ok - if danny is tuning it - ask him what ECU to use and insist you want cold start drivability.
the microtech's i havent heard much good things about with the cold start stuff but, i have not done alot of research on them. they are a good ECU that is for sure - look at some of the drag cars that run them - awesome results.
alot to be said for the tuner. talk to danny matey.

All is in good nick and still in wraping from microtechs test and remap, the ECU has never run a car or been tuned.. As new. (the book has some greasy hand marks.. as normal)
Asking 1k.
