as you may guess i have a mini spool and i also have snapt an axel.
its the left hand axel and i have pulled the part of the axel that i can get out and the other part thats stuck in the spool is not wonting to come out...
i was thinking of takeing the other axel out and trying to get some thing skinny long and strong poke it down the right hand side and try to perswade it out with a hammer and fine navagaition..
question with this possibly work and can i **** my spool etc up by doing this..
any idears and methods welcom

It will work easy as.. cant **** the spool doing that..
Takes 10 minutes to take an axle out, The hardest part will be hinding something long and skinny enough.. Try find a bit of Reo rod on a house construstion site.. There is allways shit like that laying around on my sites.

ok so this didnt work... dont think the reo was skinny enough but then when i used something thinner i could not get the axel stub to move..
i have since put it all back togeather and will be takeing it to get done by a local shop..
the axel looks to be of a shocking quality
but at least i had a try!

I dont see why it shouldnt knock out.

If you think about the pressure the axle went under to snap it, the splines have probably warped a little bit so could be very stubborn to get out.
I would think its a matter of what to use to knock it out and a hammer big enough lol or worst case scenario remove centre and use a puller tool on that b@stard

i used plenty of force with the reio once i made it a bit skinnier with the angel grinder but it bent and thats when i gave up.. i didnt make it to skinny but just enough to get it past the pinnion so yer its quite the stuck axel stub

17-11-08, 18:29 GMT+10#10 When I Broke An Axel In 1 Of My Other Cars I Just Took Both Axels Out, Got A Skinny Solid Bar And Fedd It In One Side Of The Housing Then Belted The **** Out Of It With A Mallet Worked A Charm

21-11-08, 21:52 GMT+10#11 Had this exact same prob. Pretty much as above, Ceiling rod works perfect. Thin enough to get past the centre pinion and just knocked it out with a mallet.
Then I slid a magnet through the axle tubes on a wire to pick up the filings.
New one in
Grease it up
Spin some duallies

20-08-12, 17:17 GMT+10#12 I know this is a old post but this is all I can find. Is there any other way of pulling out a broken axle? I tried getting a rod through but there is a 2mm grab and there is nothing that skinny to get it through.. Any other ideas??

05-10-12, 20:05 GMT+10#13 have you got the center out?
when i got mine out, i used wd40, heat around the housing and 2 big hits and it came out.
reo works well too but if it still in the car.

15-10-12, 16:28 GMT+10#15 I've used a rod about half the thickness of an axel with a hardened nail just thin enough to get through the diff centre welded on the end. That way it will have enough weight behind it to get the axel stub out without bending

16-10-12, 14:21 GMT+10#16 I had exactly the same scenario I couldn't knock the stub out either I ended up pulling the centre out. If you cant knock the stub out with a few hits it's not coming out. Give up lol
