Lads,
Im after your thoughts on how many kays you get out of a tank of fuel in your VN-VS 5 litre. I am looking at getting into a VR caprice 5.0 and am wondering how economical its going to be.
A friend has a VS statesman and gets around 500kms around town with the 80 litre tank, but my brother gets UNDER 300kms per tank out of his VQ 5 litre with the 65 litre tank.
So how many do you get?
What model do you have?
I really only want people with stock drivelines to reply.

i used to get about 400-450 out of a full tank in my stato and that was with 4.11's and a 2800stall, it had the 65 litre tank and i was mainly cruising it but belting it a little
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

if i were you VSWPN6 i would do a tune up on your car, and change the fuel filter, clean injectors, thats shocking economy even for a v8 stato get it checked out somethings not right
i would get over 300kms belting it every day

Interesting. Some people have huge variances. When my brother told me he would never get 300km out of a full tank in his VQ I was shocked! That was a mix of cruising and giving it stick.
Any others getting up over 400km to a tank?

Around town i get maybe 300 to a tank. Probably less.
On the highway however, it is awesome. I have a cam, stall, and a few other things, but still have the 3.08 diff ratio.
Looking at about 700kms+ from a 65 litre tank highway driving
Friday night a guy gave me $50 to give him a lift to elmore (from echuca, about 80kms round trip). I used about 7 Litres=10-12 bucks.
It costs me about $100-150 a week depending on what i am doing on the weekends, and i live 28 (country)kms from my work.
If mods are left simple, and your right foot isn't too heavy, they are surprisingly good on fuel

10-11-08, 09:14 GMT+10#10 i fill up $70 on my vs ss and get roughly 300 cruising..and roughly out of my tank of gas which is 60 ltrs. Ill get 300 out of a thrashing cruise. LOL
I got it checked out, and was told my manifold needs changing or tightening. I got it tightened roughly still the same. So will be changing manifold soon.

10-11-08, 15:01 GMT+10#14 obviously it depends on what fuel your using, how and where u drive, wat model, manual or auto.
I got a vt 5 litre 5 speed. Stock ratios, got few mild mods nuthin that would make it thirsty on juice. City driving if i granny it the whole tank i could get about 550, normal driving i wouldnt get more then 400.
Overall mine isnt too bad at all on fuel
BTW that is all on 98 fuel and i got standard 75 litre tank

11-11-08, 19:05 GMT+10#19 VSWPN6, I spoke with my brother that has a VQ and he has just changed / serviced alot of his car (not to the extent you did) and still only manages 300km too! I wonder why theres so much variance.. unless people are telling porky pies about 450+km tanks.

11-11-08, 19:22 GMT+10#20 Nah Brett a mate of mine had a VR Calais that was averaging around 14l per 100ks and he drove it pretty hard. He'd get 450 out of a tank most of the time and near 700k on the freeway.
It has more to do with driving style than people think!!!
