This is my little project, always liked the EFI 308 but didnt like the Cars they came in.
So when I came across a cheap VNSS I thought i would try to do a budget conversion.
So I started with this 6 VL berlina 1 owner with books
Pulled the motor and box out and removed the unwanted parts ( Carbon canister bracket power steering bracket.
Then I completly removed the VNSS front end( motor ,box, struts, brakes cross members)
Motor fitted into the VL like it was made for it.
Walky rims, lowered with long range tank fitted.
All done now, was going to sell it, but have change my mind now.

Not sure about the wiring yet, if you want to do a neat job and intergrate it into the VL factory harneses I think it will be a bit of work.
Everthing bolted in. Motor, box, K frame, gear box crossmember, suspension, brakes Even used the 1inch brake master and booster.
The only things modifyed so far is the tunel. Needs to be made bigger to clear the transmission servo and cooler lines.
Also the fuel and brake lines. I cut all the VL lines where they come up the chasis rail in the engine bay and re jioned (sweged and silver soldered )all the VN V8 lines on to them in the engine bay.
Also looks like the battery tray will need to moved over to clear the power steering pump.

You havent mentioned it yet, but use the VN power steering rack, it bolts straight in and the fittings are in the right spots for your vn lines.
Wiring is pretty straight forward as the efi loom is pretty much standalone. Some things you will have to fluff around with is oil pressure gauge/switch (use the vl sender is easiest but you will need a 1/4 to 1/8 thread adaptor. you will need to move the tacho wire and obviously get a v8 tacho (whole dash or just the module)
umm... Fuel pump relay is triggered by the ecu, so you will need to wire that in. I think i have a vn v8 efi loom wiring digram somewhere, yell out if you need it.
From memory I had to stuff around with the starter wiring too, and also there's a plug you will unplug when you remove the ecu and i think that carries some other things you need to wire back in, instrument cluster lights etc i think.
My turbocharged efi 355 vl also started life as a stock 6 banger too

11-02-09, 20:51 GMT+10#17 yeah its great as always but it had some firing issues which ended in dumping fuel into the exhaust and then lighting it up. i blew flames twice and then a third time which blew the rear muffler open. no idea what has caused it but its an on and off problem. once my calais is sold i will send the wagon over to an RB workshop for a once over and tune up. hopefully that will sort the firing problem and get it all tuned correctly. then a new exhaust to replace the blown rear muffler. apart from that it has had some walky rims on it but i want to swap back to the std 15"s. i will be putting the tyres from my vlc onto it and that should be it until i am off of my p plates.
