Hey guys, After putting new Monroe GT Gas shocks and king spring lows into my car, the ride is better than before but its still quite rough and you feel alot of the bumps in the road. Is there any special way your supposed to put on the shocks/springs. I also have new lower trailing arms with nolathane front bushes. Do the bushes make a huge difference to the ride and should I be going genuine rubber bushes all round? Cheers

Nolathane bushes will make your ride noticeably firmer

When replacing the shocks, is there anything else you should replace and is there a special way to put the shocks on mainly the front ones?

If you want it to ride smooth and low you need to spend a lot more money than you did. If you don't want a harsh ride and don't want to spend a heap of cash take it back to stock hight

The main problem is that you feel alot of the bumps on the road and its quite a firm ride. Its not even that low just got king spring lows in it.

Monroe shocks aren't adjustable so you can't change the stiffness

I know they arent Just trying to find out why the ride is quite bumpy and rough. Do I need to replace more bushes? Also where can I get genuine rubber bushes? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Your perception of a rough ride will differ to the next guy so it’s impossible to tell if anything is wrong or needs changing. If YOU don’t like it I suggest going back to standard or asking the shop you got the stuff from what they think Using lowered springs will make your ride harsher than factory fitment. If you don’t like it don’t lower your car

Its only about an inch lower, so i dont get why it would be alot more rough? Something isnt right. Did u change the bushes when yours got done?

Yeah I did and mine was 70mm lower and the ride was mint... cost $4,000 though Lowered springs do have a higher spring rate and combine that with new shocks and compressing those new shocks an inch you will get a firmer ride. If you feel something isn't right take it back to the place that did the work

I've got kingsprings all round, all new rubber bushes, Pedders comfort gas shocks on all 4, 19" rims, my cars low and she rides smooth as. Maybe you've got too much nolathane in your suspension or your shocks are just a firmer type? Tyre pressure makes a big difference to.

Has anyone got Monroe GT Gas shocks and noticed they make the ride firm and stiff or could it be something else?

i got low kings springs and monroe gt's in the back and if anything it's a bit smoother than it was with the original fe2 springs. I actually liked the feel of the old springs better. You have got the the lowered shocks, not the standard height ones have you?

Monroe shocks are very average shocks, and it won't help your ride if you use standard hight shocks with lowered springs. You can get your shocks shortened by most suspension shops

I just forgot about it. I used Pedders Comfort gas shocks on all 4 corners. I done the rears myself and Pedders done the fronts. It didn't cost all that much. Comfort gas isn't all that soft either. You can get the Touring inserts which are softer again, but I tried to minimise bodyroll as much as I could without going too hard. I'm still pretty happy with it. Check that all the spring insulators are still there. There should be 2 top and bottom for each spring and make sure your tyre pressures aren't too high. I usually use 28psi for stockies and 35psi for 18's and 19's.
