hey guys ive been offered a dirt cheap 5spd manual excel about 1996 or 98 maybe. Are they any good? I need a cheap daily right now so im probably gonna get it but if everyone says they are **** i wont...
Can you install a standard car cd player into them?? im gonna have to make up for the lack of engine power with STEREO POWER loll
What should i look out for apart from the obvious smokey exhaust and noisy driveline?

Apparently, these used to be the "least" claimed upon used car for any aftermarket warranty work (info from QVWN rep at the time)
Great for a cheap car, early ones in this shape used to get a big crack at the top of the dash,so dont think its been "rolled" or anything if it has one,and you can just get a dash mat to cover them.

Im thinking you may be asking this ibecause you have the model with the "rounded" corners type of head unit ?
you can still fit a standard din size head unit in this case, but you may have to file the fascia of the dash in the corners a touch, i think you could buy a radio surround from a later model excel that would neaten the job (fill the gaps top and bottom)

08-10-08, 12:16 GMT+10#10 Yeah, decent cars. They have a Mitsubishi motor and auto in them, also a Mitsu ECU (but it won't interface with MUT-II software).
Great as a daily.

I thought the motor was hyundai? Its the single cam 1.5litre engine with 3 valves per cylinder
Im just gonna change the fluid and the timing belt coz i heard if the belt snaps they bend the valves
Anyhow, time to register on the hyundai forums lol...nah.
