Great write up MAD WoG. You can get a "series 1" turbo block i believe. Thats what came with the "series 1" vl turbos yeh? Also many people have said the fuel pumps are the same too. The turbo front brakes have finned calipers and use a bigger rotor at 290 mm, the back brakes are the same.

Thanks man. Another question, im after part numbers for the turbo injectors or a direct replacement injector that flows a bit more than them. They should be fine for my setup but i wouldn't mind going a tad bigger so further down the track i dont have to buy another set

FWIW i start this conversion this weekend. With the oil feed/return and water feed, HOW do you get the plugs out of the block??? I know you soak them in CRC but they are not a socket per se - they look to be recessed hex? Anyone? If anyone needs pics, I'm good for it Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

If you have a 1/2" one that is... works a treat Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

great write up, we have just done this to my mates berlina, hes running an avo stage 1 cooler, he did not run the turbo injectors or computor at the start and it blew the head gasket, the timing was not correct either we believe it was advanced hes now replaced the head gasket with a cometic 3 layer gasket, put the turbo injectors and computor in, set the timing correctly, sard fuel reg, also replaced plugs and leads, he gets it back tonight its only on standard boost but hes also got a boost controller so we will whack it up to 10psi and see what breaks next lol

In regards to the oil and water feeds/returns from engine to turbo, is there also a water Return? I've looked through the thread but have only seen oil feed & return and water feed mentioned. even the photo at the top only has those three on it??? also, 2YLD4U mentioned that the turbo camshaft is different to the n/a one. what spec would i need to look for when finding one to suit? cheers guys

there is a water return - plumbs in on the inlet manifold side of the block. BTW - something to be careful of - head bolt washers falling down the oil galleries into the sump. YES they can be retrieved with a magnetic pickup - MUCH patience needed though... someone was after this NZ VL Com.........reco head is ready tomorrow. that tell you how successful my ezy-out adventure was Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hey I did the conversion, the injectors im running are slightly higher flowing than VLT, that what i was told ( merc ones or something) and when i plug up my VLT ECU it runs really rich and idles crap, but when i have my NA ECU in runs fine, why is this and would there be a way of running my turbo ECU without doing anything damage to my car. I'd like to keep my enigne this time round :P
