heard nothing but bad storys from mates about irs commodores fitted with minispools and was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences? Also curious about 5litre/5 speeds fitted with 3.9's or 3.7s, To higher ratios or to much fun?

i havent had one personally but from what iv heard having a minispool on irs will cause you to break axles quite easily just depends how much u want one i guess

mate of mine had a VS SS with 3.9's and a mini spool, 5 speed manual, gears were fine, never broke an axle and it got a bit of a hiding over the 5 years he owned it, its still got the same diff in it now i beleive, it did crack the rear k frame tho within the first 12 months of getting the diff done, got a new one and didnt have another drama, but i have heard of many ppl breaking axle's with spools, ive never had an issue at all on any of my cars tho! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

trust me minispools are not desgned for IRS u snap axles and riped the kframe apart cost so much to fix spesh when u don't get Mates rates?? Trust me ... You have been warned LOL

5mm plate across the bolt holes that hold the diff, drive it hard and minimise skip and your right... i did the last 2 things for a year in my vr, no dramas what so ever most breakages are due to cars being lowered and having a manual cos of the extra strain they put on the sub frame. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

its just luck really, a good mate of mine snapped both axels in his 5speed vt 4hours after the spool was put in but i know of some mates who have had them in for years with no dramas

depends on a few thing 'does it get driven every day, your driving style and whats the car going to b used 4.going by the other posts it does i bit of damage so spend the money BUILDING a tight lsd centre or even a 2 way rather then spending your money on FIXING broken axles/k frame, prob cost the same at the end 2.
