Hey Guys, A vl I know of hasnt been running for 2 years and the gas tank was empty. About 15 litres of gas was put in and when it was put onto gas it sort of backfired and didnt run very well. Then after a bit of driving it improved but it always has a flat spot on take off when run on gas. Running it on petrol it runs great. Any ideas? Cheers

take it too a gas place and get em to tune it up for ya, if it runs good on petrol could be tuned for that instead of gas???

if it backfired check everything from the inlet plenum forward to the airbox. there should be somewhere the pressure can escape (so you don't destroy the afm...) if that pressure relief spot is not covered properly or closed back up it can cause the flatspot mentioned, spluttering at low revs, even stalling and further backfires. i use to have the above problem and have since solved it. yet one day some weird crap went down, i thought doing the above would fix it but no!. i don't know exactly how i fixed it but i unplugged the afm and let the car run with no restriction (removed filter aswell) for a few minutes. plugged it all back up and it worked, may just need the computer reset. alternately i constant backfiring issues which i solved by updating the spark system (sparks leads dizzy coil)

maybe your injectors. I had a flatspot on take off and i put new ones in and the car was like new again.

Cheers mate. Although it takes off fine on petrol. Another problem has come up where if im driving and switch to gas the car stalls and a weird sound comes from the switch or tank not sure.

I'm with Mitch on this one... was helping a mate check his lifters on his VL which was running on gas with gas mixer on the inlet pipe after the afm. When we removed one of the hard brittle hoses it put a crack in it.. after that the car had a flat spot..

oh ok cheers. One day the gas would work and then the next it just stalls when u switch to gas. I wonder if its the injectors? Although it does run fine on petrol.
