sorry if this has been asked before but i have a vk v8 that was going to be my daily but due to it being easier to get my calais back onto the road than the vk ive decided since the vk is already ripped apart il build it up. now it has a stockish black 308 motor and im pretty sure ive seen 308 to 383 stroker kits before, i just had a look on ebay and cant come up with anything at all only things they have on there is 308 to 355 and 355 to 383? now am i correct in that you can get a kit to go from 308 to 383 or was i seeing **** that day lol any help would be appreciated

As said above, ring COME they do a 383 stroker kit. The block has be clearanced to fit a 355 or 383 stroker crank

i have a 383 and used to drive it every day nearly untill i turned it into a racer only and it runs 11s with no hassles and still a lot more to come out of it also a few of my mates have 383s and havent had many problems i also just ahd a 355 built and it made no where near as much power as my 383

The bigger the cubes, the less it has to rev. This means less wear and longer engine life. At the end of the day a 383 would be nice to have but a 355 is going to be alot cheaper and still make a bucket load of torque. Oh and dont be turned off by people saying that 383s always break down, it comes down to how its built and maintained.

why stroke at all? why not just build a mentle standard stroke motor. i have a standard stroke 304 making more than most strokers you see around. will run 11's all day.

I'm currently in the same toss up between a 355 or 383 stroker from a 308, there seems to be too talk about machining and cuttin into a water jacket for my liking lol I know some guys have probs gotten away with it that's great your builders must be awesome but I've heard of guys building engines from good builders and having fkcd up too lol I reckon it's safer just to do s 355 anyway they make good power if you spending a few bob on your heads, ignition n fuel. 355 wining me over I think

what ever you do stay away from eagle cranks for the 383, they will not handle much power.... a good mate of mine that owns the test car (torana ls2 turbo) for my business had a monster holden 383 made 480rwhp at the wheels on 3/4 throttle through a glide but the crank snapped in half and destroyed everything... aparently they are only ment to hold 450hp.... which is stupied as who makes a 383 to only make 450fwhp? anyways i would go the 355 in COME or SCAT as it is more reliable and has proven power... you can actually go as high as 396ci, c.o.m.e us to make the kits but i never see them now...

Apparently 383's make a **** load of torque but are lazy to rev . Bang for buck I'd be going for a 355 , they make good power and they rev . Scat rotating assemblies can be had for $1500 these days . Clearancing the block for stroker set up is only a few hundred dollars extra on top of the usual block prep .
