Yesterday morning i noticed my car was noisy,cat was loose. Turned out to be missing one of the bolts too. Anyway, i cranked it all up tight,and put a new bolt in. Then went inside. At some point between around my bedtime (9pm on a sunday),and probably around 2am,some prick stole my cat. Even took the ratty gaskets and all four bolts.
I live in diggers rest,not the nicest place,but never had anything like this happen.
So those around melton,sydenham,sunbury etc.
Get the nuts on your cat bolts tack welded onto the bolts,so the dogs can't get them off.

I do a fair bit of recycling since im ruffing copper pipes in buildings and ive asked about 8 scrap yards so far for prices on just about everything and the most anyone will pay for a cat convertor is around $40-$60 max.
Im not saying your rong but thats my personal experience as far as pricing goes. And i think you can buy cheap ****ty cats new for $100 ? so if ya could id be buying big on new cats and scrapping them

mate ive been in the scrap game for 5-6 years now , and the new after market cats dont have platnum or aridian in em thats y you can get them for $100 , if your getting $60 per cat ill pay you $100 cash each , let me know.

to mr tow up there, why don't aftermarket cats have those metals? is this with all new cats? obviously just old cats eg pre 95 or something?

Ive only ever sold 1 from my standard exhaust. But i called around recyclers from dandenong to laverton, very wide range and the best i could get for it was $60 and it would have been 18yrs old so not a new type. If i ever come across one to get rid of ill let you know first.
aftermarket cats have lower concentration of the precious metals as compared to a factory installed item hence the cheaper purchase price... up here they only take the factory items from people for this reason and they do pay around $100 per cat
