Hi all, Here is My series two VL Berlina. It was manufactured at Holden's Elizabeth plant in December 1987 with Alpine white duco, MX Grey bars and 25I blue interior. I purchaced it on 06/08/08 for a sum of $1475. The previous owner had a 2.5" mendrel bent cat-back exhaust system with only one muffler fitted along with a JVC 200w CD/Mp3 head unit and 6.5" 2-way Fusion rear speakers. Here are some photos from the ad. I have a few goodies already in my shed ready for fitment such as: Complete turbo conversion Stage 2 Crow cam ARP head stud kit Permaseal 1.3mm, rubber coated, multi layered, steel head gasket GKtech no holes intercooler kit MS1 turbo automatic transmission 28 spline LSD center Set of silver interceptors 15x6 for the front and 15x7 for the rear TYC VK Berlina tail lights other plans are: 28 spline axels Rear disc brake conversion Turbo or VT front brake conversion LE front lip Re-paint bars MX Grey Cut & Polish Tints Rear & side venetions (cant decide on colour yet) I will try to keep this thread updated. Work will begin when it runs out of rego in a couple of weeks.

UPDATE: started work today, started stripping the engine bay ready for an engine rebuild, turbo conversion and general tidy up. The engine and trans are ready to be lifted out, just waiting to get paid so i can hire an engine crane haha. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I think I might do a Madeira red interior conversion (keeping it Berlina spec) if I can find a complete conversion in mint condition or a cheap donor car, preferably S2 with the VN style front seats. Also have been thinking about going with a manual set-up, mainly just for fuel economy, but I think auto is good fun, either way there is money to be spent in a transmission setup whether i convert to manual or do up my auto with a shift kit and stallie.

Hey so far so good. Thats a nice collection of parts you got going on there Ahhh manual or auto...tough decision. 5speed is fun but sometimes i wish i could hop on a stall Any further progress? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

No further progress so far, probly not for another 3 or 4 weeks as I have to pay for my full lisence and a loan repayment in the next 2 weeks, which sucks lol. I want the new engine in, a few things tidied up and hopefully a bit more by friday 5/12. I did try and trial fit my GKtech intercooler last week but it wouldn't fit between the A/C fan and the reo, so I will get an aftermarket thermo for it. I would like to get all new A/C system components to have hektik coolingness for summer Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hey mate, love it. Berlina FTW. Regarding your thermo fan, check out my car's build thread (click the link under my location on the left) - I just overcame that problem with the auxillary fan not fitting between the intercooler and condensor(found a suitable smaller replacement unit). And I honestly have spent many sleepless nights considering the Madiera interior; it's looks absolutely brilliant in the white non-Calais VLs. Trouble is they're very hard to find. I still kick myself everytime I go visit my wrecker and think about the complete series two Madiera Berlina interior that I didn't buy. Keep it up mate! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks for the comments guys. I thought I hadn't seen VN style seats in red before, oh well, I'm still keen on the red. Although I think pinstriping is pimp, I can't decide on them yet. I will probly buy a roll if some comes up. I'm getting very impatient, I want to drive it NOW! lol but its gona be a couple of months yet.

The NOS pinstriping is rare as rocking horse sh*t; there was a roll on eBay ages ago going for $100 (enough to do two cars). Apparently Supercheap Auto sell something practically identical fairly cheap. I haven't looked into it yet because new moulds to put it on first. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have a mate that owns a panel shop, he might be able to get some pinstriping for me I may have found myself a red Berlina interior, I'm going to investigate that further tomorrow. The car still has had no further progress as one of my tool kits is at work and the other interstate at my mates panel shop along with all my go fast goodies. So as soon as I can afford to, I will head over to Mildura and bring it all back so I can get cracking! This is how it has been sitting for the last couple of weeks.. I inquired about the red interior today, they said they had the complete interior there for three and a half months and only just sold the front seats on the week end! So I'm pretty devo about that, still thinking about getting it and coppying NSNPWR and get some Scheels retrimmed in Berlina spec but... $$ you know. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yes, I couldnt resist the thought of a white / grey berlina with red interior, so on Saturday morning I got up bright and early and drove down to Lonsdale with Wayne (SXC - 747) and had a look at this red interior and it was immac! So I snapped it up, only problem is they weren't sure if they had sold any of the dash parts cos the dash was removed, but sitting on the rear seat. Anyway, I got a pretty good deal cos I got everything inside the car for $295 and one of the guys that works there is gona bring it home with him tomorrow night, as he lives about 10 mins away from me and Lonsdale is about 40 mins! So I'm hoping nothing else is missing apart from the front seats and the plan is to get some red, fixed back racing buckets for the front I'll chuck some pics up when I have some. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hey guys, I can vouch for how clean and tidy this interior is. Owned by an old man the bloke at Advanced said? Im not a fan of the 'cherry centered' VL's but this is soooo clean. Hurry up and get pictures up Locky bro Piss them sh!tty hub caps off and start hunting for turbo hubcaps. I am in love with turbo hubcaps, I almost want a berlina or SL/exec just for the turbo hubbies . Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Well I picked up my madeira red interior today and I am stoked. It's even neater than I thought it was. I was so excited I couldn't wait to see it on so I quickly put on a door trim to have a geez, here are a couple of pics. He forgot to bring the rear seat home with him, so I will get that tomorrow. Notice there are no holes cut in the door trims OR the parcel shelf! I almost dont want to cut the holes in the parcel shelf for my speakers I just can't wait to put it all in! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

UPDATE: I have been working on it bit by bit each day, through the week I fitted the roof lining and door trims. Today I removed the engine and trans and fitted most of the dash. Here are some pics. Big thanks to Lockie (jetvl086) for lending Me His engine crane! I am just going to paint the steering column satin black, because it has a full metal jacket already installed and it will probably kind of match the boss kit which will be mounted to it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
