hey guys, thinking about throwing LPG on my daily, havent done a full install before, but dont think its out of my reach. i understand how LPG systems work in general, have done little bits and pieces on various LPG cars, but there are a few little things that i'm unsure of. reason i wanna do this is because i can most parts i need cheap/free, i'm an apprentice with not much cash, and the gas joints i have rung to get it done the legit way dont wanna touch it (honda prelude). not sure on these motors as to how they hold up on gas ie: what the head/valves are like, i dont care if it goes bang, the car was free. as for the parts i need, so far i'm looking at: tank lines convertor mixer lock offs injector emulator (this is what i'm unsure of) or something to kill the petrol system. what do i use and how does it work? guage switch for petrol/LPG, this would have to tie into the emulator or whatever else i guess btw i'm not going to blow myself up, i'm seeing alot of 'leave it to a pro' posts coming up, i'm capable of turning a spanner so dont stress cheers, Ben Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I'm fairly certain that a gas fitter has to do all the work, and then sign off at the end of the job. So unless you know someone who can just sign it off for you, looks like you will have to leave it to a pro.

i'm not trying to get the grant back, just to put it on gas, but yes i do know someone with an LPG licence. i've asked him what i need and gave me the basic list, its not something we went into great detail about, and dont know when i'll see him next

If you have to ask what you need you certainly should not be attempting to do the conversion. It takes a few years of experience to do a successfull conversion. Knowing how to do a good flare is imperitive and having the ability to judge where to run service lines ect takes experience and know how. You don't even know the regulations as what is legal or not, how do you think you are capable of attempting this?? A prelude is not you average commo of falc. It will need alot of insight as to how things can be fitted so as to be safe and legal. Good luck on getting someone to sign it off and comply it for you. I hope I don't have you smashing into my wife and kids on the road cause I can bet there will be a big BOOM involved. Don't be a tight wad. Get a professional to do it. That way you will know you will be safe and you can also claim the rebate back. The fitters that have said it can't be done obviously have not got the experience to do it. Keep trying around there are plenty of fitters that are capable and willing to do your car. Its tricky but it can be done with ease if you find the right person. Good luck, your gonna need it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ i agree 100%! Plus by the time you outlay the coin to buy all the bits and pieces, then spend your own time doing it, you would've been better off financially and time wise to get someone else to do it!

i can get parts cheap/free. it will work out to be wayyyy finacially better for me to do, trust me, i've looked at the 'legit' way. thats not so much an issue though (read further down) legal i dont care about, safe, it will be. just because i havent done a full install before doesnt mean im a complete f*ckwit. i understand the dangers involved with gas, and do you hoestly think that me installing it will result in me casuing an accident? seriously? i drive a VL, im used to things going bang and f*cking up. this isnt something im just going to go out and do, i've got a mate with his LPG licence who will tell me how things need to be done to be safe, atm it just simpler for me to come on here and ask what parts i need i know a prelude is not your average falcoon or commy, they didnt say it cant be done, they said they dont wanna do it, which is fair enough, they've got endless falcons/commodores lining up for 'simple' installs, why would they wanna mess around with this? as for being a tightarse, i'm not just trying to be cheap, i want to do it probly moreso for the sake of doing it/learning than just to save a bit of money on an install. besides that, i only earn $300 a week, half of which goes on board, so f*ck you, its not easy so, let me simplify the questions a bit, maybe it seemed like i dont know where i'm starting, i do, just got a few hickups: what do i use to kill fuel in an EFI car. i've seen those injector emulators, is that the mainstream thing to do? what are my alternatives? is there better/cheaper/easier way to do it? is there alot involved in wiring an injector emulator? the ones i've seen seem to come with instructions, so wiring wouldnt be a problem, i can follow instructions and i am good with wiring, just more of a general question. thanks for nothing guys Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ease up tiger, there was an emoticon on the end of that for a reason. you were thinking of helping me a little? all you did was tell me im being a cheap c*nt, i'm incapable of doing it, that me doing an LPG install was going to make me cause accidents. i'm sorry, but i just don't see that as helpful. sure, point out the things i might get caught up on, but dont just come out and make like i'm a complete idiot and incapable of undertaking the task at hand

You're not gonna get a positive post because it's not a safe thing to be doing!

what specifically do u think will be unsafe? i understand that thigns need to be mounted safely, lines run in out of the way places etc. i've got someone with an LPG licence willing to guide me through the important bits. the main part im hung up on is the enjector emulator or whatever is needed to cut fuel.
