Hey dude welcome to the site always good to get more people on here here's a rough guide to putting up pics
when on photobucket go to your album click on the little box below the picture you want, at the bottom of the page there's a blue box that says "Generate HTML and IMG code" click on that ,In the box named "IMG images for message boards" left click and hold to highlight the code then right click little box comes up go to "copy"
Then back to CT and in your reply paste the code which you do by right click and go to "paste" your code should come up
good luck

hi guys decided i'd make my own exhaust manifold, man its a fair bit of work but it'll keep me occupied while i pay off some bills
started off tracing around a exhaust manifold gasket on 16mm thick plate and also for turbo flange then gas torched out pattern its abit wonky but die grinder soon sort that out, bought some schedule 40 bends and a metre of 40mm medium black steam pipe and the fun begun, tried teaching my self how to tig weld but soon learnt its not easy without the right gear, thought about mig welding but recon weld would be too hard and not expand and contract the same and probably crack, thats the excuse i'm sticking too so i'm stick welding it with 2.5 low hydrogen rods bugger to start but i'm used to older technology, when i'm finished will probably heat wrap runners so welds will be hidden

the manifold looks good, is the steam pipe much cheaper compared to exhaust tube?

not sure think its dearer but its about a mm thicker and easier to weld and bend in pipe benders than tube, hard to get a tight bend without distorting the wall but good for curves, going to use tube for rest of system -turbo back- stainless is out of budget for now

12-08-08, 20:05 GMT+10#12 what about useing the factory N/a manifold and weld top mount to that? and whats the trick to masking the windows from the inside? then how does one get out?

12-08-08, 20:46 GMT+10#13 Just noticed something.. why did you weld up the holes behind the back seat?
And that manifold looks tricky, nice work.

13-08-08, 15:48 GMT+10#15 holy, ur a keen man!! but definately like the dedication!!! i was thinking about the hole custom thing but would probably tig weld everything. alot tidier and less penotration on inside of tubing therefore better flow. custom cooler piping is going to be interesting enuf;p

my son is painting my car and i'm the boy we put wide masking tape round the inside of edges so that half or more of the sticky side is facing outwards then place paper or plastic over the sticky tape and then cut off whats not wanted after that place another round of wide tape over top of paper or plastic to sandwich it in between but mask this part tidy and not on top of what u want to paint ,found it easier to mask in short stripsof tape because it gets tangled and easier to go round corners

i had the holes welded for a few reasons, not sure if i'll put carpet back in so didnt like looking at back of seats, going to put in a small fuel cell for differant fuel type as well as surge tank, and try and stiffen up rear end between shock towers, wasnt to sure what the rules are concerning passenger compartment fuel and rear mounted battery so just had them welded them up just in case

thanks for that took my 2ltr off the road so l can use it for dummy fitting things as i dont want make any wrong cuts or drill holes in the calais after the paint job, so i pulled the motor out and fitted the 30/r3325 hybrid motor, then basically located where i thought turbo would fit and just went from there u r right its abit of work but its all good also was'nt sure if any one made hybrid manifolds to fit between the vl struts some said yes some said maybe so just decided i'll make one see what happens
